Anyone got any? If so, please explain.
Our 8th grader found the upper level ISEE easier than the SSAT. She studied for the ISEE for a few hours across a couple of days before the test. Just looking at percentiles her scores were considerably higher on the ISEE math sections than on the SSAT, with the reading/verbal scores very similar to SSAT scores.
So, I’m guessing some do find the math section of ISEE rather easy (when they study of course). I’ve just heard it was hard. Thank you for your reply!!!
Although my children have taken only the SSAT, I find the ISEE to be a much more fair and reasonable test.
The SSAT is often gratuitously tricky and occasionally underhanded. It would seem to reward test-taking skills over general knowledge. It’s almost as if they are testing your grit and resiliency: the questions can come close to messing with your head, and you have to keep your cool and not let it get you down.
In the above passage, the author’s attitude is best described as,
(a) somewhat skeptical
(b) highly skeptical
© extremely skeptical
(d) skeptical doesn’t begin to describe it
(e) none of the above
The ISEE, on the other hand, is admirably straightforward. A dedicated student should find the ISEE to be a fair test of knowledge and ability.
I think SSAT (and old SAT) was designed to measure iq and not achievement. I don’t think it’s a good thing because iq doesn’t correlates enough with future academic success. But that’s how it is. ISEE seem to be similar to ACT, which gives more weight on achievement and less on iq.
Any study suggestions for the ISEE?
The school I am applying to doesn’t say we have to take the SSAT for the admissions process. It only states, the ISEE…so I guess I am lucky lmao.
