ISEF 2006 and RSI

You get just about as much time as you need to set-up and get the safety and review committee to come around. You can set-up at your own pace. I don't think I'm doing a tour, I think I'll just rent a car and drive around to see if there is something to do. The only tour that sounds interesting to me is the Notre Dame one, but that's not where I'm going to school so I dunno if it be worth it.

join the ISEF 2006 group on myspace

quick question what do u think will be better to research and hopefully enter in the ISEF or help me in get me into RSI:
cancer research- working with DNA replication (at NIH)
or
immunology- new research making cultures obselete and able to identify a disease within 1 hour (at a lesser known research institute funded by NIH)

id being doing research over the summer so i wanna kno which one to choose.
thank for the advice

That's a hard question to answer because you can't really tell how great a project will be until you've done it. I think either one will be good, and you should choose the topic that you are more interested. By the way in which you posted the two choices, you seem more interested in the 2nd one. Don't think that just because it's not at NIH, the research won't be as prestigious, and thus not as great, because prestige matters little to none to judges. Both projects definitely have great potential depending on how much time you would want to spend on them. If I could offer any advice however, I would pick the topic that I would be able to do more independent work on. Judges don't really like topics in which you worked as part of a large research group.

hmmm...
ya well both projects sound good...
the dna replication research at the NIH might be better especially if you're going to do it through the internship program. b/c I have a friend who got in to RSI and she did the summer internship at NIH. plus you might develop better connections.

vanilea's right too. the more help you get the judges like the project less. the 1st topic sounds reasonable. the 2nd sounds a little overbearing for a high school student to work independently on doesnt it?
