Hey I just found this site and also found out I won my regional science fair and I'm going to ISEF- what great timing. I was browsing the isef website and I couldn't help but gape at the awesome prizes- $5000 and a laptop for the grand award winners. Sorry if this sounds too "materialistic," and it probably won't apply to me anyway, but does anyone whose won before or knows a winner know what kinds of laptops they got? top notch or cheapest possible or in between? I can't wait!

I don't think that they won the grand prize, but I know of a group from my school that went to the national ISEF competition in Oregon last year as well as a group that's going to Arizona for this year's competition.

nakedsnowboarder95, what did you do for your science project?

Nakedsnowboarder, I will be going to ISEF too! See you in AZ!

I am going as well... :-)

I think the very grand prize winters...as in, like the top three from the whole fair...get an incredibly outrageous amount of money, like $50,000 from Intel in college scholarships (that's apiece). But you have to be pretty incredibly amazing to get an award like that.

I think if you have a really good project, it's not too difficult to come out of the fair with several thousand dollars in prize money, especially counting Special Award prizes along with the grand awards....
