ISIS August 1st 7 am

How disadvantaged will I be if I can only gain access to the internet (my laptop broke down so I'm currently using the public library) at 7:45 am? Will everyone be logging in at 7 am? Is my hope of trying to get into a previously-full class doomed?

Galoisien, please stop worrying! Chill! Everything will be fine.

First off, is there really going to be a flurry of add/drops this friday?

Second, how does adding/dropping work? Can you add courses even though they conflict with other courses? I.E. If I have a math course at 11 am atm, but I really want bio instead...can I add the 11 am bio and then drop the math? Or do I have to drop the math before adding bio in the same time slot?

Third, what is up with my Chem 141/Chem 141L classes? I've got Chem 141 on MWF at 9:00-9:50 AM. Alright...but why do I have Chem 141L on R at 2:00-5:30 pm 3 times simultaneously at 3 different locations? Also, why do I have Chem 141L on T from 4:00-4:50 pm and then Chem 141 from 3-5 on Friday afternoon?

I have that issue too!

Here's how it works:

You spend 30 minutes trying to get ISIS to even let you in because there's a quota of users.

Once you do log in, you'll try to add classes, stay staring at the screen for 10 minutes while it tries to load because the quota is still too high, where you'll finally see a screen saying you've become inactive and the system has logged you out. Frustration ensues.

Just wait until the first week of classes, everyone add/drops like crazy and you can always course action in to a course (paper form professor signs instead of isis), professors are reasonable with intro courses where people will drop.

not worth the trouble, just wait until the 2nd or some later date to try and get into ISIS. It will be swamped the first day with students trying to switch classes.

regarding CHEM141 and the lab, the 9-9:50 is your lecture time, 2-5:30 is your lab time. Lab is located in 3 places because you will be put in one of the 3 rooms depending on the first letter of your last name. The other 50 minute block for 141L is lab lecture. I have no idea what the last block for CHEM141 is though.

Probably tests. I know physics they set that block of time aside so that you couldn't have a class during that period and thus miss the test. Or could be a problem session.

As for ISIS, don't frustrate yourself by trying to log on the 1st. You probably won't be able to get on at all, and most likely, people aren't making drastic moves quite yet because most classes are full. It will take a few days to a week for stuff to really start moving. So, maybe try the night of the 1st if you're pressed too, but otherwise, wait a day or two and see what shakes out.

Chem 141 doesn't have anything scheduled for Friday afternoon. Discussion (Recitation) Groups are held on Monday evening and Tuesday evenings, depending on the lecture section you're enrolled in.

Biology 201 gives their tests on Friday afternoons from 3 to 5, and they also hold (optional) review sessions during this same time slot. Maybe the poster confused the two classes.

Unless they've changed the way they do things this year, Chem 141 gives their quizzes (tests) during the regularly scheduled class times.

Haha, HHD you are so right! I got confused because there was a block on my schedule on Fridays that said "Chem 402" which I assumed meant the room for my Chem class. I forgot I signed up for Biology 201, lol. I'm dropping Biol 201 tomorrow anyways.
