When attempting to access ISIS, I got a bizarre message: "your advising code has been suspended", or something to that effect. I called the ISIS help number and was told that Engineering students can not make any changes to their schedules. This seemed odd to me, and I would like to know of any ways around the restriction.

For the record, I'm unconvinced that I did not trigger the error message myself (would inputing a blank form do it?), so if this circumstance is particular to me - that is, other Engineering students can make changes - please let me know.

First year, first semester E-school kids can't change their schedules until the first week of classes. I'm not sure why, but probably has to do with making sure there are enough classes and so kids don't suddenly drop out of engineering classes and then they close.
And, there is no way around the restriction. Every first year, first semester e-school student will get the same message. This is the only semester that this will happen, as from second semester on, you'll register yourself for whatever class/time you want.

Thanks for the confirmation. In that case, I suppose I will contact the registrar, as I picked up her card at orientation. She had suggested that I would be able to make changes to my schedule (and she must have know I was an engineering student)...

they don't want e-schoolers switching because there's still one orientation left and those e-school students have to pick from the same "letters" you had. If they opened them for the incoming e-schoolers than those pre-made schedules would be no good. There's not much to really worry about except classes that are non e-school like econ. Chem lecture/labs have their own limits for e-school kids.

I do understand their logic, but in my case (coming in with Calc II and STS eliminated) I want to switch into a preferred multivariable class (not open at orientation), as well as possibly change my elective course. Not to mention, I looked up the ENGR 162 teacher that I received and was somewhat disappointed in his teaching style... Civil Engineering is not my particular interest.

Ejhfast, maybe try emails someone? I dont really know who. I may try the same tactic though because I have some schedule editing that needs to be done as well
