isis

does anyone know what time we can begin changing our courses today (friday)?

i'm getting an "alert 009" message, but i don't know if that means that its not time yet - or if somethings wrong.

By "friday" they probably mean "when ISIS reopens on friday morning".

yeah, i figured,

but i was surprised i could actually get into isis. usually it just says "isis is closed" when you try to access at this time.

how do you get access to waitlists through isis?

The site says the close time is 1 AM now apparently- I don't think it used to be that late.

good to know

Will someone tell us where to find the "5 digit advisor code?"

Your advisor during orientation gives you that code I believe. I'm not sure if this applies to first years changing their courses now though (advisors during the normal school year give the codes to their students).

you don't need 5 digit advisor code to sign up for classes...just put down the schedule number

Thanks for responding but we're still stumped.

Thanks, sv3a....my D is a first year in the E-school and she says the facebook feedback this am is that they can't add a class without advisor assistance.

Hairypotty, it seems she has to have the advisor code to get to the page associated with the schedule number.

The schedule numbers are the letter/number combinations under the course abbreviations in the course offering directory. I'm not sure where your restriction is. Are you not able to access the page where you add/drop/swap courses without this code?

My S is in the College and trying to do a "swap". He enters the first change and can't get any farther. He has not been asked for the advisor code yet.

You need to enter the course number and click the radio button of the course you want to get rid of. Are you sure he is not trying to swap a lower credit course for a higher credit and going over the 17 credit limit?

Courses are the same number of credits.

About the Advisor code. You have to wait until fall orientation for that problem. First years in the E-school are not allowed to change classes yet because there are a few summer orientation sessions left and the E-school is mean. When you arrive in the fall, you will meet with your faculty advisor and he/she will take care of that and you can change your classes.

D just got off the phone with her roommate who will be a first year in the College of Arts and Sciences. The roomie has been on ISIS twice this morning and was able to add one course and change the section of another course.

D will be a first year in the E-School.

Thanks, UVAMalex09, for the distinction between the College and the E-School as far as making schedule adjustments. I guess that's why D was being asked for an advisor code when other (College) students were not.

reasons why I hate ISIS:

you go to swap a course, get booted midway, when you get back on you find you successfully dropped course A and have not been added to course B.

can we invest in some ****ing worthwhile computers at this school. Maybe put I don't know worthless Al Groh's salary towards it.

At least the University's servers are not down more times than up as say the CS department's servers! But I feel for you. Anyways, I'm happy I got my 4-month-long CS/STS class problem solved. Now where's my Goldschlager and Aftershock? I want me Red & Gold!

Lol@UVAMalex

ISIS is so slow today...it took me 30 minutes to add my fifth class.

I've seen "The page cannot load" several billion times, only to come back five hours later to see my class has already been swapped. I wonder which cannot load it was after.. hah.
