I got rejected from BC today. I just started laughing when i read it cuz im like what the hell I'm going to princeton. in retrospect my rejection from UCSD was also pretty funny considering I got into UCLA and Princeton. lol. anyone else who got in get rejected from a school way further down in their list after they got into their top or top 3 choice?

i got waitlisted by washu, accepted to princeton.

yeaah it happened to me too. pm 4 details ;) . I also think its funny how much this forum slowed down after all the rejections went out.

Lol I got waitlisted at Wheaton College, a Christian school in Illinois! I think it's because they're not need-blind, but it's still funny...

I didn't get into Oberlin but I'm goin to princeton

I got waitlisted at Chapel Hill and accepted to Cornell and waitlisted at Brown!

A lot of schools will waitlist overqualified candidates because they feel these candidates will probably go elsewhere. They'd rather save the seat for someone who'll come.

elchingon, i have in my hands an Oberlin acceptance.

We can discuss trade anytime!

sorry but its all good

haha i didnt get into NYU CAS.. got into some crappy general studies program there instead but i got into Columbia and Princeton!

got waitlisted at carnegie mellon, but got into Upenn and cornell

Because I'm top 10%, I am automatically accepted to University of Texas at Austin. So I got into Duke, Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford, and then I didn't get into my desired major (biomedical engineering) at UT. Seemed a bit weird to me...and it's not as if I didn't work on my application to UT. I did!

Like someone earlier, I was waitlisted at WashU and into Princeton

Tufts syndrome, named for Tufts University albeit that this is not the only university accused of engaging in the practice, is where a university rejects extremely highly qualified students on the grounds that such students are bound to be accepted by more prestigious universities and would thus not enroll, lowering the university's yield and contributing to a drop in its selectivity in many rankings like US News and World Report.
