Isolation!

One of the most notorious things about Amherst is isolation. And please, don’t tell me boston and NYC is nearby. they ain’t!
I am looking for a school that combines both fun and rigorous academics, where I can choose one over the other every given night. The fun is, of course, parties and good looking girls (yes, I am shallow) and academics must be tough and rigorous.
TO what extent is atmosphere here “laid back” and to what extent can Amherst diversify “fun”
Please do tell, I am choosing between Cornell, Uchi and Amherst

Isn't Cornell just as isolated? And Uchi prides itself as the place where fun goes to die?

With the 5 college consortium i'm sure you can find enuff fun, social activities and girls at Amherst.

Did you notice that two out of the five colleges in the consortium are women's colleges? Now go and tell me THAT isn't enough for you;)

No one has ever said Boston/NYC are nearby. They're reachable, but not in our backyard.

Umm.... Ithaca isn't exactly what I'd call civilization. Nor most places in upstate NY, for that matter.

And I'm sure you'll find plenty of "fun," by your terms, at Amherst.
