So I got an email from UCLA (like a few others have) asking me to take English 1B at my community college next quarter. This is the text of the email:

"We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an admission decision, we need the following information from you:

Would it be possible for you to enroll in English 1B or 1C at Foothill College for the Spring 2011? Unfortunately, we consider the Writing 140 course you took at USC a duplication of English 1A, not a substitute for Foothill's English 1B or 1C"

I took Writing 140 at USC my freshman year, and then I took English 1A at my community college my sophomore year, as according to the articulation between USC and my community college Writing 140 was the EQUIVALENT of Writing 1B. So what is the deal with UCLA claiming it is equivalent to 1A? I have evidence showing otherwise. It would be an extremely big inconvenience to take 1B over again, not to mention the quarter starts in a week or two and I already have a schedule planned. Additionally, I applied to UCLA as a transfer last year too after I had already taken both of those courses, and I DID NOT receive any sort of email resembling this one (despite being in the exact situation) before I was rejected.

They want a response within 5 days, what should I do?

PS: I also have a separate question. I have TAGed a few other schools (got into UCSC, still waiting on SD and SB) and I think that I did very poorly on my Calculus 1D Final that I just took (I'm guessing I will end up with a D in the class, very slight possibility of a C or F). Only 1 school (SD) requires this course for an econ major. My GPA will still be well over a 3.0, but this quarter I am getting a B and whatever I end up with in the math class. Will this basically screw over my admissions chances/nullify my TAG?
