Issues with schedule

Hey fellow CCers. So I'm in a bit of a predicament with regards to my schedule, specifically in math. Freshman year I took Algebra 2 with Trig HN and completed it successfully; I was set to take pre-cal HN the following year. Unfortunately, I had to move to a new school district the summer going into sophomore year. As a result, there were some issues in my freshman transcript, and I was forced to take pre-cal regular instead of IB Math 1 SL (which is the equivalent of pre-cal HN). The regular version of pre-cal was just too easy, and I felt like I wasted the entire year with that class. I am now in my junior year and am taking SL 1 math, and it's pretty easy. I really should be taking HL 1 which bothers me so much since I want to get into engineering, and I'm worried not taking the Higher Level version will hurt my chances of getting into a decent engineering school. I'm thinking about taking calculus over the summer at a nearby community college, but I'm not sure that would let me take HL 2 senior year. Well...you've heard my story...any help/guidance?

Do it… But you should have fought tooth and nail over your course placement.

@wcao9311, I realize that now, I was ignorant back then. Looking to resolve my past mistakes as best I can. Thanks for the input

@JRez96 ask your math department head if you could test out. My school has a policy that you test out a few weeks before the school year begins.
