It appears that October is the best time for taking SAT

I did a cursory review from the TC site and have realized that October 2008 test has produced the best scores. June, January are not the good times. Any thoughts?

Good, I plan on taking it in March and maybe October.

lol i guess thats a good point. i took mine in may and october. october was my best. but they may be because it was my last time, and i hardcore prepped for it. so that may be a reason...

there are 4 months between june and october so i think the high scores are a result of studying

What about November?

November is pretty much a "last ditch effort" date, so people probably won't do as well. And I base this on zero factual knowledge :P

How about december??

I'm biased toward december tests, 'cause I owned it. But, from experience, people who wait 'till December are either the kids retaking to get a really high score or to raise a really low one.

THis is not correct. It depends how prepared you are.

I don't remember the exact times I took the SAT, but out of three times, my best score of 2190 was in June.

Then again, that was a couple of years ago. Maybe the astronomical gods and/or seasonal planet alignments have shifted since then.

The test date doesn't matter, though, 'cause they're all scaled to be equivalent.

^ This.

I don't mean to be offensive to the poster of this thread or anyone else in particular, because it's such a common mindset that it's no fault of any particular holder of it, but I think that the attitude of trying to choose a test date based on which will "produce the best scores" is kind of ridiculous and comes across as pathetic. (Again, I'm not saying that the students who speculate about this are pathetic, in particular, but the whole idea is.) Seriously, just take the test. I reallllyyy don't think (a) that every "month" has a distinct level of difficulty that is consistent from year to year or (b) that it matters at all, considering they're all curved.

Besides, which "produces better scores" -- the hard month with the better curve, or the easier month with a harsh curve? o__O

Yay for Poseur! I couldn't have said it better myself.
