IT Came!!!

Permit to report packet came...w00t 80 days left!

Congratulations!!

Same here today for us....It's beginning to sink in that this stuff is FOR REAL!

What day is I-Day, again?

I-Day is 28-June

I didn't get mine... bad news?

We got ours today, too!

Navymom, where do you live (which state) if you wouldn't mind saying.

d-b-y you know the US Mail...don't worry, with your appointment in hand you'll get it, honey

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Peskemom, I live in Sacramento, and you got yours but I haven't got mine. I'm a little uneasy...

Just wondering if everyone that received the big packet this weekend already had an appointment offered?
My son doesn't have an appt. yet, just and LOA and hoping for a waiver.
Did anyone receive an appointment and the information packet at the same time?
My son attended CVW last night. People from admissions said that they had been "stuffing envelopes" all last week.

So hopefully that means the last appointments/denials will be arriving this week?

bestwestin....by April 15th I've been told all news is out for the class of 2010. Our kiddo's childhood friend, who has his app in, is still in 'having heard nothing' mode as well....It's killing us how far along we are and not being able to let him know for fear of driving him and his family crazy.

as for that april 15th business, I wonder if they can say 1) you're in 2) you're not in or 3) we're going to make you wait until after april 15th. I haven't heard yet and I am guessing I'm on some sort of waiting list.. so should I expect a firm decision by the 15th or some waiting list business? (i'll let you guys know either way)

Oh anxious mom, you know I'm with you. Just remember what our RD said, it could come right down to the wire (9 after I-Day).

waiver: "an emotional state, experienced by parents, signified by manic-depressive fits (I have and LOA! I have my nom! I STILL need a waiver!?), combined with obcessive-compulsive episodes (is the mail here? is the mail here? CC! CC!), highlighted by prolonged bursts of immense frustration." See government agency.

Prayers everyone!

My son attended the CVW this past weekend. During the parent session people from admissions allowed time for questions.
The way I understood their comments was that by the 15th you will receive a letter with
1)an appointment
2) a "No" admittance
or
3) notification of being waitlisted Those waitlisted would most likely be notified a couple of weeks before I-Day based on how many people turn down their appointments.
They said that if you get a "No" the door is closed for this year.
Do not sit around waiting to hear anything else. You can reapply next year.

One of the mids talking said when he came a couple of years ago, that his flight from the West Coast was delayed for some reason and that there were several USNA plebes (to be) on that flight. There was a group of them that did not arrive for I-Day. That could be the mystery 9 that is rumored to have received an appointment after I-Day.

thanks for that info anxious mom. i guess I might have to wait until june to hear now..

From my understanding (and one of the 9 was a friend of my son's) the 9 who were admitted after I-Day were off of the waitlist. Our son's friend got a call on I-Day +1 and was given 2 days to make a decision. They reported 10 days after I-day 2004 for the class of 2008. This is the only incidence of this happening that I know of.

I just went back and checked on my old parent list emails and there were many references to this occurance. As I related above, it seems the 9 that came in were the ones that opted to go ahead and take a place in the class. These spots were offered by Superintendent Adm. Rempt on July 29 (1 day after I-Day, 2004) and those invited had to report July 7, 2004. The late appointments were given to fill positions of no-shows and drops on I-Day. I would just forward the e-mail, but that is against the list rules. It was also noted that this was the first time this had been done to fill out a class since WWII.

Hope I helped clear some of this up.

Thanks, Momof1.
Thanks for giving factual information based on specific knowledge of the incident. I guess that essentially they were telling us that you still have a "chance" of getting in if you are "waitlisted", but that if you receive a "NO" you need to try again next year. They said that you would be notified a week or two ahead of time. They did not SAY it, but I can see the possibility of adding more at a later date to fill a class.
I think that it helps those that receive a "no" to go ahead and go with their Plan B school and not sit around waiting as we have been doing for so long.
Those that are "waitlisted" have more waiting to do, but hopefully have a backup plan in place.

WP2010,
Have you received a "waitlisted" letter at this point?
My information is from USNA, so it may not be the same for USMA.( Am I to assume that you WP is in reference to West Point? )
