Yeah, believe me, I would not sit on my hands waiting for the late appointments to happen again. In fact, we went ahead and did college apps on Jan 1 even though ours had an appointment in Dec. "just in case." I think most prudent people have at least a plan A and a plan B. Most military people I know extend at least through E in the alphabet...

Thanks for being such a helpful presence on the forum. I know that it must really help those just entering the process to hear from others who have been there, done that! And recently, too! I am getting to the point where my info is now 3 years old and I can give more perspective on the roller-coaster ride aspect than the application/appointment side of things. My mid was saying just this evening that he can't believe that he will soon be wearing 2 stripes on his uniform. It goes so fast!

Anyway, night all and if you need info on plebe ac year and youngster stuff, I'm your gal! :)

anxious mom,
as of now I have received nothing from USNA which leads me not to expect a letter of acceptance but, more likely, a waitlist letter. You are correct that the WP in my name refers to West Point which i have been offered an appointment to. However, since creating my name, I have learned much more about navy, gone to nass etc. and it has really become my #1 choice. I will certainly end up at a service academy - thanks for all of the advice

I don't think that a lot of people have heard rejection wise from Navy yet. Last year they said I would know by April 15....on April 15 the rejection letter came. No news may or may not neccesarily mean good news. However, I wouldn't expect to be waitlisted just because you haven't heard yet....wait until April 15.

would i be correct to assume that, if your congressman is going to call you to let you know of acceptance, you will most likely get that call on a friday? That seems to be the pattern and I think that's true because the admissions board meets on thursdays, makes a decision, and your congressman is notified the following day, friday. I have definitely put way too much thought into this admissions thing..
