IT Certificates

How do you think, would IT Certificates (such as the following) be a good plus to my application? Can/Should I add them as supplementary materials?

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS Certification | MCTS Training | Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator| MCSA | Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)

Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) | Training Courses for IT Professionals)

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA - Career Certifications & Paths - Cisco Systems)

Yes and yes, especially if you’re planning to major in a computer-related field.

I guess. I think there are more productive, and more interesting uses of your time and talent though. For example: research, robotics, USA computing olympiads, web design, game design

A bit more complicated question:
Can these certificates (plus work experience in IT-Sphere) become a “foundation” of my application to non-traditional student programs (like Columbia GS)?
