Ah, the good ol’ days. When I lived in LA I couldn’t decide which was better; Tommy’s or In-N-Out. It’s been a long time now for either one but Five Guys is at least the best in the Mid Atlantic states.

BTW, In-N-Out used to give out bumper stickers that simply said, “In-N-Out Burger”. It was the fad then to take the bumper sticker and cut out the “B” and the “R”. Don’t know if they still do that but like I said, I’ve been away for many years.

Since they are on opposite coasts, no need to choose! But I confess: Five Guys offers the whole package: the best burgers AND good fries. In-n-Out’s burgers are addictive, got to have one when you see a franchise, but I have never, ever, ever, had a good french fry at an In-n-Out. From Wiltshire to Cajon Pass to San Diego, under-cooked, stiff french fries.

^ Five guys fries are THE BEST!! They’re drenched in fat and salt, but they are so good! And they make them on the spot every day. Way better than In-N-Out fries.

You can actually get the fries at In-n-Out “well done” where they put them in for a second fry, but then they tend to turn out a little too wet from oil and overly crunchy. :(

(No fries can beat O Fries, though, as I’m sure anyone living in Pittsburgh can attest to.)

In-n-Out can also get pretty packed out. The one in Barstow and the one near LAX are especially bad. The one at Gayley and Le Conte is sometimes full too, and the line at the drive-thru is horrible.
