It is Even Possible?

do u guys think it is possible to get into stanford with 2050/2400 (1410/1600).
according to the Stanford EA decisions for the class of 2012, it seems like most of the students with sat scores lower than 2300 got rejected...
My GPA is 4.0/4.0 (unweighted), top 1% at school.
do u think my gpa will be able to compensate for my low sat??
would they not even read my application and throw it out cuz I'm asian with low sat score...?
:(

(I'm asian female applying from canada. Would not applying for FA help me a little bit?)

haha of course it's possible......

Stanford is not need-blind for internationals so I assume that it would help you a bit if you did not apply for financial aid.

I noticed that quite a few people with 2300s got deferred, while those with good, but lower scores got in with either hook or demonstrated passion. From my school, for example, we had one rejected with a 2180, one deferred with a 2370, one deferred with a 30 ACT, and I got in with a 2210 (all superscores). That's just one school, but in the stats section you'll notice a few rejected/deferred 2400s even.

Thank u guys for replying. After reading all those posts with 2200s and 2300s got rejected, it seemed like there was no chance with 2050. I hope stanford is looking for something beyond sat score :)

I really want to go to Stanford. now, it seems like it is the only one that I want to go to. I think I have waited all my life to go there.

^Sorry to say it but... that's a dangerous sentiment

ya. that's how i felt too...then i realized that i was setting myself up for a 90% chance of supreme disappointment. then i decided that i will be happy anywhere i end up going. i think that's the better attitude to go into the acceptance/rejection season with.

letitsnow, that is a bit dramatic. Take solace in that a lot of people will be joining you in disappointment. Start envisioning yourself at other colleges in order to brace yourself.

haha hey! no fair. well I don't know why stanford is so special to you, but trust me you will be happy no matter where you go, whether its stanford or another college. Wherever you end up going will be an amazing college because you're an amazing student and you will love it there and get a great education.

letitsnow, interestingly looking from the outside in on the SCEA
posts this year on CC, it looks like there is a disparity even within
the overall category of Asians... for example there was a thread
with Asian-Indians with what looked like phenomenonal achievements
either rejected or deffered very few accepts. the few accepts had SATs
in your range.

It seems Stanford is looking for a high level of bonding with your ECs etc....

...just speculating here...

:)
