:( this is going to suck for me

Tomatoking, I think if you are close at or above the median school profile for admissions the past few years your chances are pretty good. if your borderline then it maybe dicey. There are so many kids applying to FSU, UF, USF, UCF that they can afford to be very selective.

I know that Senior Schedule and marks matter at UCF. I'd suggest you apply early and have a solid challenging Senior schedule, in their committee format it can enter into the discussion and they do consider it. Above all don't get Senioritis!!!!! They will either admit or derfer the first go around as I don't think they reject anyone, if they defer they will then look for additional things like test scores, and mid term marks.

We didn't make it in on the first evaluation and had to send Mid Term Marks to get accepted.

News like this frightens me. As an OOS student I'm pretty sure they'll come after me first when they need more money.

Ray111, I read in your previous post that your son/daughter didn't make it in to UCF on the first go around. Would you mind telling us what his or her stats were, such as SAT, ACT and GPA. Thanks

GPA 3.2, ACT 25, SAT 1160

There was never an issue with Test Scores, but they did want to see Senior Marks. She had straight A's in her core courses at midterm's. We were told that she didn't get over the bar in the Fall when it is set high.

Basically GPA was swayed by a couple of Early C's in Freshman and Sophmore year. Her work was 3.5+ for Junior and Senior Year.

I am glad to hear test scores were not an issue because my son has the exact same scores SAT-1160 and ACT-25. His GPA is closer to 3.6 so hopefully he will have a shot. We are looking at applying for summer so maybe that will help. I just hope they don't raise the bar too much due to the enrollment freeze.

well since we are talking about admissions, chance me?

i'm a hispanic male

In-state

3.3 uw
3.46 or 3.5 w(not sure,i have to ask my counselor if a class i took,Japanese 3,really is regular or honors)

taking 3 AP's my senior year(AP English,Japanese and Enviro.)they will be my only APs.I've only taken honors and regular classes.

act now:24
projected ACT when i take it on September 15 :27

ec's: 4/10(not much)

really good essays though

tomatoking -Fair chance if you apply early, have a strong senior schedule and get your ACT up a notch. A 24 ACT is like an 1110 SAT. I don't think that UCF puts much weight on the essays unless you are borderline (since they recommend but do not require them).

WCD's son should have no problem getting in though.

The enrollment freeze might cause UCF to defer more borderline students at the beginning of the application period and reject more toward the end. Still recommend you apply early as you can though.

I agree with Seiclan, get it in as soon as possible you will find out where you stand. Make sure that you are moving all the necessary elements of the application together on parallel tracks. Test scores sent from the agency's, transcripts and recommendations/essay's from the school, the online application from you.

UCF doesn't require some of the things I talked about, but it doesn't hurt to have them included.

UCF will NOT act on your application until you have it all there, then it will be 1 day to 3 weeks to see your status show-up online, they are very quick about updating that website, it will be a week in advance of the written decision you will get.

They will start sending you postcards on various things, they have a very good marketing campaign and they keep in touch, not like FSU and USF. It makes you fell wanted. Last years postcards advertised a median GPA of 3.6 and a SAT midpoint of 1200. One has to remember that these are the 50% points, half are above half are below.

Tomato raise those test scores! they will combine tests to arrive at the highest score and use that one. Also be focused on Senior grades, just in case it comes to that. I think that the net effect of the freeze maybe to be really selective early in the year. They may just wait on a bunch of other kids to see who shows up and where they are at.

they superscore they ACT!?

I believe they do, but you should check. We applied to several schools that all had different rules, sometimes I get them mixed up.

Applying for summer definitely increases your chances. In our case, our S applied for fall, but was offered summer (and accepted...).

I'm not sure that it does or it doesn't. Based on what we were told they automatically consider you for both Fall and Summer when you apply.

If you don't want to go in the summer I wouldn't apply for it, you may end-up in the summer program anyways as an outcome if you don't pass the muster so to speak for the fall, but are within their summer parameters.

I am new to this site.
Interested in UCF
Can somebody rate my chances of being accepted, possibly getting some sort of scholarship. I am interested in their hospitality program.

I think you have an excellent chance of admission and if you get your ACT up (to around a 30) you could get into the Burnett honors college. I am not sure what UCF's criteria is for scholarships though. My elder daughter was offered (if memory serves me correctly) the Silver Pegasus Scholarship ($7600 over 4 years I think?) two years ago. Her admission stats were 3.83 GPA (private school) and 1330/2010 SAT.

I think you need a better score on standardized tests if you want to maximize your scholarship potential. They base their awards almost solely on GPA/Test scores. My stats were 4.3WGPA and 1500/2200 SAT and I got 27,000 over the 4 years. I'm fairly certain that it the most they'll award a student who isn't a National Merit Finalist.

The good news is, once you get down here you'll have plenty of opportunities for more scholarships as the Hospitality college gets the most money out of all programs at UCF.

If you have anymore questions about the Rosen college feel free to ask. I'm down here right now and will try my best to give you the answers you want.

coasterphil..

how will being an out-of-state student affect my chances of being accepted to Rosen? Also, I have taken the ACT again have raised my score to a 29. My GPA has also been raised to a 4.58. Will my chances be helped if I apply early? And, what are the average stats of those who have been accepted to the school?

You’ll have no problem getting accepted, don’t worry about that at all.

UCF has rolling admissions. Apply early, and you’ll have some kind of response in a relatively short time. Also, if you are in the running for merit aid you want to apply early while they have all their money.
