JustAMomOf4, congrats on your D’s very mature statement: “She just shrugged and said - they didn’t want me the first time around, their loss.” I have always told my D, there is no reason to try to break thru locked door when there are plenty of wide opened where they want you and will appreciate you.

me reading this helps, thank you, im a medical leave student, left from my top school a pretty lowly school but MY school. I did some wrong things I Admit, but im at a cross roads whether or not too return. thank you.

Centh–great post. Definitely agree that “It all worked out in the end” doesn’t have to have a narrow definition — can mean you learn from your experiences and find a path to a life of productivity and utilization of your talents. Although, since we are on CC, we are focused on our kids’ success/happiness at college – I like that broader view of the concept.

Pumpkin–I think your daughter is on the right track. $12000 a year is a huge amount of debt. UGA honors is quite prestigious. Vanderbilt isn’t worth it for a young person to have $50,000 of debt when she graduates. It sounds as if she’s got a good head on her shoulders!
