Ithaca College VS. SCAD VS. Columbia College Chicago for Film Production

My S has been accepted in Film Production (Directing) to:

Ithaca College
SCAD
Columbia College Chicago

Waitlisted at UNCSA (this is his #2)

Deferred from EA to RD at Emerson (this is/was his #1)

Still waiting on DePaul and Pratt.

Curious on opinions and advice from other people that know the film programs that he was already accepted into (Ithaca, SCAD and Columbia College Chicago) and what they think of them.

So I am an Ithaca grad and I work “in the biz,” so I am a little biased on this topic. What differentiates Ithaca from these other schools is that it is a top Communications School, not just a top film school. This means that there are just as many opportunities for your S to work in TV as there opportunities to work in film. The required semester at the LA campus exposes him to internships and alumni, as does the semester in Brooklyn.

We are also cross-trained to succeed in public relations, advertising, really anything in the world of Communications. Ithaca grads are committed to hiring other Ithaca grads and because of the size of the school, there is a larger alumni pool working in TV and film than SCAD. I visit Ithaca at least once a year and am pretty well versed on their programs so feel free to throw your questions my way.
