Ithaca College

What is the relationship between Ithaca College and Cornell? What are the kids like at IC? Are the girls really better there?

you can take classes at cornell and ithaca college

i go to Ithaca College so i can pretty much answer any questions that you have. i know a lot of people at cornell and from what ive seen, the girls are certainly better here at IC. its kind of peculiar that this occurs seeing as though there are many more people that go to Cornell and there surely will definitely be some good looking people. its very weird but it seems like for every 5 girls at IC, 4 of them are good looking, 1 being extremely hot.

i think people have the misconception that IC is just some random college across the street, that harbors students who didnt really do well in high school. what you have to realize is that certain programs at Ithaca are among the best in the country. i'm in the business school so i'm not part of that type of student body, but the Park School of Communications, as well as the music and theater departments are at the top in the country. a lot of people that go here are in fact really smart, many of whom could have gotten into Cornell and other top schools but they wanted the small, homely type feel that IC certainly offers. you would be suprised at how intelligent and sophistocated a lot of the student body is here. this isnt to say that like every school, you have a few bad eggs that drink every night and day and end up getting D's and what not. but this is all to be expected.

it certainly is true that IC is overshadowed by Cornell quite a bit but it really doesnt hurt the relationship at all. for all intents and purposes, the relationship between the two schools is pretty stellar. there is no big rivalry or anything like that. its basically just two colleges inhabiting the same town, just one being a lot more famous and vast in size.

the night life is somewhat of a different story. since IC doesnt have any school recognized frats, myself as well as many others venture over to cornell on the weekends. since the people at IC are perhaps better looking, the frats at Cornell only let IC girls in and not guys. this creates a lot of fights and what not which doesnt really help the relationship between the two schools. i end up getting in a lot of the time because of my connections with Cornell students but to many IC guys, Cornell guys are a$$holes. i myself know that they arent but through the eyes of many at IC, this is the case.

lastly, the two schools have tremendous respect and admiration for one another. IC for their smooth aproach to education, and Cornell for its Ivy League status and prestige. this is shown through what akbike11 was saying in the cross-regestration agreement between the two schools. this means that i can take any class at Cornell that isnt offered here at IC. also, i can take as many of these classes as i like. basically, i can be undecided for two years and take all my courses at Cornell, but of course this all transfers back to IC and i get my degree from there and vice versa. this program is utilized a great deal by Cornell students, especially those interested in accounting. since Cornell doesnt offer any undergrad accounting courses, all perspective accountants at Cornell take their accounting courses at IC, and many IC students take hospitality courses in business at Cornell.

overall, the relationship between the two schools is better than anyone could really hope for.

hmm ok now for a Cornell kid view of IC. Thanks ajp sounds awesome except for the Cornell kids being *******s I guess but whatever

I knew a number of kids from IC when I went to Cornell. They were generally, good, bright kids. Most of them were very social, but in all honesty, I don't think they were nearly as serious about school as most of the people I knew at Cornell. But take this with a grain of salt as I only knew maybe 10 kids total who went to IC...they could have been an abberation.

I met some guys from IC, they were hot.

has anyone seen road trip? was their school ithaca college or university of ithaca (does this exist?)

University of Ithaca...it doesn't exist.

Are there any movies that take place in Cornell? Like Animal House, Skulls, or anything like that?

yes there are a bunch of cornell references in movies. The most viewed would be goldeneye: the huge satellite dish at the end of the film is a cornell facility.

Here is a whole thread on it hotelschoolcornell: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=74030&highlight=movies%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=74030&highlight=movies</a></p>

This is a link from the thread, to a great resource: <a href="http://ezra.cornell.edu/posting.php?timestamp=950763600#question9%5B/url%5D">http://ezra.cornell.edu/posting.php?timestamp=950763600#question9</a></p>

I sense an inferiority complex...

i wouldnt call it an iferiority complex at all. clearly cornell is more prestigious but i dont think any IC kids envy cornell kids because they go to cornell. that just isnt the case. also, a degree in theatre, music, or integrated marketing communications from IC, is better than the equivalent from cornell. but i whole heartedly agree that IC is extremely overshadowed by cornell and that is upsetting to some students here.

animal house is based on student from dartmouth b/c all they do isdrink lol

at Cornell, Ithaca college is pretty much considered the "other college" in the town of Ithaca. Having gone to high school an hour away, I know alot of people at IC. None of them were very smart, but my one friend there is an ultra-talented guitarist. I'll give IC credit for a great music program and a pretty good theater program. I dont know how any other programs rank, I just know a few other people that go there.

I live about 40 minutes from Ithaca and have known many people going to Ithaca College. Most of them went for music or a music related field (i.e. recording), and none were very smart. Granted they had the grades to get into the college, they were not the, umm, "brightest bulbs on the tree"? I know that the film school is an excellent program (they work with hot shot directors from Hollywood), but I don't know anyone in that program.

And as for the 4/5 attractive rate? Not a chance in he||. There are some pretty friggin scary people at IC--it IS a theatre school...

Um, people at Cornell crack jokes about IC, because we're bastards.

Who's HiImAnAlcoholic? :p

If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Seems like it'd be worth it

ok so all in all there are some normal kids and some theater weird kids. Hot girls come from IC to Cornell to frats for parties and the guys aren't allowed to come? Sounds awesome to me
