Would like all opinions about the music program at Ithaca College. How does it rate among the other music schools?

D auditioned there last season and found the viola studio very nurturing. She felt that the overall focus was stronger on music ed than she was interested in, but it seems like a great school.

You’re blessed - there was just a great thread about this school a couple of weeks ago: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/954647-auditions-auditions-auditions.html

Several musicians from our high school have gone to Ithaca - I know of one music ed and one piano performance major. I don’t have specifics, but know that they’ve been quite happy.

S will be a freshman at IC this fall. The music school is highly regarded. At orientation we learned that the admissions process was even more competitive than past years. The breadth of experiences of the 20 or so music majors at that orientation was quite impressive. The music school’s website is fairly comprehensive and will give you a feel for the program. Ithaca College is expensive, but there are talent and need-based awards available. Check the website for specifics on scholarships.

Feel free to PM with more specific questions.
