Ithaca for music education?

Anyone know how selective they are?

Don't expect an easy admit! Also, last year's parents on both this forum and the Ithaca College forum reported not very much financial aid available.

I'm wondering if they admit more students than musical theater programs do.

xoxt...
Some numbers from my notes last year (I do not guarantee accuracy!)
475 Undergrads, about 1,000 apply and audition, 325 accepted to yield class of 135.
Audition 400 singers, accept 64 to yield 32. (Total Ithaca College population 6,000)
Music undergrad stats: approx. 30-35%Music Ed., 30-35% Music Ed./Performance (4 1/2 years);25% Performance; 10% Music with an outside degree (don't remember exactly what that means, BA maybe); remainder are jazz, recording, comp.
They had a nice info/Q+A session with the voice faculty, but they did not really speak about the Musical Theater program, so I imagine it's pretty separate. Maybe you can find out more over on the Music Theater or Ithaca College forums.

I already audition for MT. they are taking 8 women..
I've already done 2 years of an opera degree, so I'm going to try for a double major in MT and music ed..

My daughter's a freshman violin performance major. She adores the school and most of her friends are music education majors. I'm a music educator and professional musician myself and am very impressed with the music education degree at Ithaca. If I can help send me a PM ...

I am jealous that some of you get to consider Ithaca! It was one of my son's top schools last year until we found out they weren't auditioning any jazz guitars due to the absense of a teacher! It seems like a solid college, great music department and very cool town.
