Ithaca or Lawrence - which is better music program

Does anyone have information on which college has a stronger program or better reputation for string performance (cello)- Ithaca College or Lawrence University?

I have the same questions on Ithaca vs. Lawrence, except that we’re looking at music ed. DD was just accepted to Ithaca in flute (music ed), and will be auditioning at Lawrence this weekend. We have always heard very strong positive things about the quality of the Ithaca music school. DD loves the integration of the conservatory with the liberal arts college at Lawrence. We live in the east, where people are generally unfamiliar with midwestern institutions. I’m having some trouble getting a handle on the reputation of the music school and how national its reputation is. Comments would be very appreciated!

Only secondhand knowledge, but one of the finest young pianists I know turned down Ivies and prestigious conservatories to study at Lawrence last year. Reports via the kid grapevine say that she’s doing well and happy there.

We also know several good musicians - mostly with an interest in music ed - who are doing very well at Ithaca.

Wish I had more program specific answers for cello or flute.

If you do a thread title search on “Ithaca” and “Lawrence” you’ll find about a dozen separate threads on each. Ithaca has long held a national recognition as an excellent music education school; Lawrence is often cited as one of the most seamless programs for combining music and another discipline.
