Itinerary?

Sorry for the last-minute request, but our visit itinerary was just emailed this morning. We (junior daughter, husband, two younger sons and myself) are driving down tonight and will visit all day tomorrow. DD will major in English, be in Honors and is interested in the Blount Initiative. Our priority was to take the tour/dorms and sit in on two classes. (The way the schedule stands now, there is only time to sit in on a half-hour of the Engl class.) The coordinator, however, has her meeting with an Arts & Sciences advisor and an Honor’s rep (both of which I don’t think are a good use of time–but she seems adamant on not cancelling) The admissions appt I could do without also. Thanks for your feedback.

Should I request that we see the dorms for Blount also since they are different than those of Ridgecrest?
We’d also like to see the campus Catholic church–I guess we could stop there first thing in the morning.

^^^^As a parent of an honors ambassador, I would caution against posting student’s names (especially without their permission), you should edit this post in my opinion.

I’ve now visited twice with my son.

I would say the visit with the honor’s department was BY FAR the best thing we did during our initial visit. I would say bus tour was a much worse use of time as I could walk/drive around campus on my own.

We also saw the dorm and met with a prof in the engineering department, but if it wasn’t for the meeting with the honor’s department, I doubt we would have made it back for that second visit.

The second visit my son had the opportunity to sit in on a class, but I’m not sure he got much out of the experience and actually left saying the math they were doing in the freshman engineering class was very easy. I don’t think sitting in on a class helped him make a decision, but the visit with the honor’s college definitely helped me.

Yes…ask to tour Blount dorms. Tour Blount and honors dorms.

You can drive by the St. Francis in the morning or stop by at the end of your day.

Right now, you’re not going to see the church as it will be when your child would attend. The parish is building a new building - which will be located immediately east of the current building. See Master Plan below…

Here’s a cute video of Coach Saban and Miss Terry raising money for the new church building. (The video is the second one down)
