It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere. UGA EA Post Here

Guys who were deferred, don't worry too much. EA just gets filled up with the in-state kids that have amazing stats that are using UGA as their backup to their safety. The application process is so easy for EA that its worth it for them to just thrown themselves in their anyway. I know a lot of kids at my school, about 40, were accepted early action but have no interest in attending the school. All of them have a WGPA over 4.0 and SAT scores above 1300.

To banis:

I actually did... and got deferred.

Accepted

ACT 29

In State
Skipped last two years of HS to go to a residential joint enrollment program
HS GPA 3.9
College GPA 3.7

Finally stopped calling me "invalid" on the log in!

Accepted
GPA 96.5 W (I don't understand the 4.0 scale thing lol)
1450 (2180) SAT
32 ACT
out of state

Have hope guys. I got deferred when I applied EA in 2005. I filled out the application for Regular decision and then was placed on the waiting list. Let's just say out of all my friends who got in, I was the last to know. lol. But now, I just finished my first semester as a freshman and it's great. And if it makes anyone feel better here were my stats (and they really weren't good at all. I guess I had kick-ass essays)
SAT: 1100
GPA: 3.7
3 AP's my senior year.
A lot of extracurriculars.

I would like to congratulations to everyone who got accepted early. I was in you'll postion last year around this time. I am now a first year at UGA. I was like many of you who were deferred and had good stats. I was president of FBLA, and Chess Club, which i help start. I was also a member of student counsol and NHS. My GPA was 3.7 uweighted. I was in Joint enrollment so i already had 15 credits for college excluding AP credit. ISS. 1250 SAT score. I was so ****ed off when i got deferred but i realized that they couldn't accept everybody who applied early. So i finished the regular application in by Mid Feb. I recieved a big evelope with the word in big red letters. ACCEPTED. It kind took the surprise out of opening the letter but i was happy i got in. So don't give up if you got deferred. just feel out the application again and you will be alright. Remember UGA accepts around 58% of the applicants. Which is a HUGE amount. ANd finally, advise to those who might get waitlisted. I know this from somebody in admissions. IF you get waitlisted and still really want to come to the school just call the admission's office and tell them who your are and explain that you got waitlisted but you still really want to go to the school and 9.5 times of of 10 you will get in.

Accepted

sat: 1570/2320
gpa: 97

too bad they don't have direct admit into Terry College of Business

can't wait to hear about foundation fellowhship

I'm back in the game. Part 2 got submitted today.
Good luck to my fellow deferred EA and patient RD applicants. We're going to make it.

Accepted
SAT: 214
ACT: 33
GPA: 4.0 U/W
White Male OOS (New England)

do they reject early actioners?

They said at "Explore Georgia" if you are by no means qualified then yes, which they said was 30-40% of each EA applicant pool. Say a 2.5 GPA no honors or AP classes and a 1000 SAT.

I got deferred!! 3.67 GPA unweighted mostly all honors and AP's except for drama IV. I wanted to get in so bad. Oh well, RD here I come!

from what I understand, they sugar coat everything at "Explore Georgia" very badly. I went to the one that was like around August 1st or something. I loved every minute of it, but from what I've heard they dont give you the whole truth about admission with regards to ea/rd

Doesn't surprise me at all. I'm just passing along what I was told.

Accepted!

SAT: 710 Verbal, 800 Math, 790 Writing
SAT II: 730 Chem, 760 US History
GPA: 4.1 out of 4.3 (4.3=A+, 4.0=A, 3.7=A-, etc...)

Waiting on the Foundation Fellowship...

hey jax briggs, do you suspect that they reject more people than they claim to?

Deferred....

GPA: 3.7 unweighted (only like 2 non-academic classes....EVER, all honors and APs)

SAT: 1800 (blah sucky I know)

ACT: 28/ 10 on writing

APs: US History 3, AP Language 3, AP Comparative Government, AP U.S. Government, AP European History, and AP Literature

Extracurriculars: Key Club, Academic Decathlon, Academic Quiz Bowl, Model UN, National Honor Society, Keyettes, Memorial Health University Medical Center Student Intern, Flag Corps, Principal's Advisory Council

i got deferred a while back

3.8 gpa/1200 sat all honors/ap

who knows....

UGA is really big on the SAT and AP's. If you are lacking in either one you have a good chance of being deferred early. If I recall correctly, they seem to end up accepting a bunch of unqualified candidates RD and even off the wait list. Everyone here looks to be fine.

yeah...I was a bit appalled...lol I was like ok...I have a scholarship offer from Tulane and top liberal arts colleges are looking at me and yet UGA thinks I'm not good enough. Definitely a big PSH - AW going their way. I applied as a safety but eh...now I didnt even feel like applying RD
