It's an emergency!

Not really, but i did get your attention didn't I?

Now that the SAT scores are in for this year, i thought I would do another one of these threads. I'd apply to the College of Engineering and probably to the Engineering Physics major. I already posted this in the chance me thread, but since Cornell is one of the top or THE top school i want to go to, i thought i could use some of your opinions on the topic.

Some of the other schools im looking at are:
Reach- Princeton
Matches- University of Rochester, Rensselear, Stevens Institute of Technology
Safety- TCNJ, NJIT

Some Stuff:
NJ Resident if you couldn't tell
First Generation student
URM-(Hispanic)

Scores:
Sat- 2190 Math-790, CR-690, Writing-710
SAT II- Math II- 800, Physics - 800, US History - 760

School stuff:
GPA: 4.0(UW), 4.9something (weighted)
Rank 6/435ish
Junior AP - AB Calc (would be surprised if i didn't get a 5), US History (would be surprised if i didn't get a 5), Lang (4 or 5), Self-Study(sorta) Physics B (4 or 5)
Senior APs planned - BC Calc, Lit, , Psych, Chem, Physics C Mech, Physics C EM(self study), Computer Science A (might have to self-study)

Extra Curricular Junk:

Accepted and going to NJ Governors School for Science
Taking Stats class at Community college over the summer cuz it doesn't fit into my schedule next year

I don't think i forgot anything? Well, watcha think? anything i can improve on? Should i retake my Sat again, i kinda wanna improve on my CR. Am i cutting my self short by not applying to more "prestigious" or selective schools? If so, any suggestions? Thanks for reading this guyz!
P.S. Anyone in the AEP program or have any freinds in it want to give me their 2 cents on it?

You should have a good shot at Cornell! Yes, you should look for other top schools in your list because it isn’t absolutely certain that you will get into Cornell or Princeton, and your app makes you competitive for many top schools. Look for other schools with great science/math/engineering programs. MIT is a pretty common choice - it can’t hurt to apply to more schools when you have a decent shot at them.

If you can talk to your school counselor about the Rensselaer Medal Award. It’s 15,000 a year for up to 5 years and its by high school. You’d be a great match and even if you don’t go there its nice to know that you had that option.

^ The RPI medal is offered at a Minimum of $15,000 per year. I won it and was offered $33,000 a year from it.

You have an excellent shot at Cornell and a decent shot at Princeton. More so if you apply early decision to cornell. If you are looking into engineering, I would suggest also looking at Carnegie Mellon, Rice, MIT, Caltech, Duke, and Georgia tech. Better options for engineering IMO than princeton.

Thanks for the input. As for the RPI medal, i don’t really know if thatsgunna work out, simply because my school is not really know to send kids to “top” schools. I mean, we get a handfull that get accepted into IVYs every year, but over half of the kids either go to Community college, or dont go at all. So what im asking is, can my school just sign up with RPI to give out the award next year?

Also, for a few reasons, i don’t think I’m gonna apply ED to Cornell. My father convinced me that its better to have a bunch of options, especially financially, in front of me when i choose.

Your father is right. And if you get rejected, it won’t be because you didn’t apply early decision.
