What’s the maximum amount of time it takes for a decision? I applied on the 23rd of November.
@crabwalker010101 The Office of Admissions was on holiday break for approx 2 weeks through the end of December and very beginning of January. Most people have been receiving their decisions 4-6 weeks after all application materials have been submitted and processed. You can verify if those materials have been processed by calling the office.
Due to holidays, admissions decisions are taking a bit longer than usual (as mandomelife said). If you have any specific questions about your status, you can feel free to call our office: 412-624-7488.

I applied on 10/23 and still haven’t heard back
Same, OP. I applied around the 20th of November and got really angsty over winter break. I applied a few days later to Penn State and got my decision in just a few weeks, so I was nervous about what was up at Pitt. Luckily, I received my acceptance by email yesterday!! I have to say, @hailtopitt1787, the movie preview is quite unique.

I am a little bit worried, because I applied about the same time as OP (maybe a little earlier) and I still have not heard A teacher decided to send in a recommendation once the review process had begun (I assume); would this have anything to do with the amount of time it is taking? Or is it just because they received everything on the 23 of December? Or should I just be patient because everything is fine? @hailtopitt1787
@hailtopitt1787 in the above question it should say the week before the 23rd.
My daughter received her application confirmation email on 12/1. She just heard she was accepted on Jan 14, so just about 6 weeks. (she hadn’t even done the short answer/essay questions yet!)
@raedainfossaest, Your teacher’s recommendation would not slow us down. You should hear in the next few weeks, I would guess.
Best of luck!
