thanks for getting a B in physics. that looks better than some grade-aholic with all A’s. legacy will help for princeton. all the schools on your list below stanford are easy safeties.

harvard, yale, penn-ur a solid candidate, you just need luck now

Heh, I didn’t get a B in physics. The course is AP Physics B (algebra-based), as opposed to AP Physics C, which is calculus-based. But regardless, thank you for the chancing. (:

NYU - In
UF - Never heard of it
Rollins College - Never heard of this either =
You got a lot of nice stats there and being valedictorian can never hurt your chances. Make sure to keep up the perfect grade although the other guys comment makes me wonder whether an A- would really hurt you much. Otherwise you seem all set.

Wow,there are so many Jewish living in South FL area, hmm,I think you are high match at all of them.HYP likes this type of applicants.Good Luck!:)

your stats look really good for most of these schools. yale and harvard might be a bit of a reach but you still have another year. it probably would have been better for you to have taken bc calc this year and sacrificed some other class if you’re planning to major in mathy/sciency stuff but, well…
also, i would suggest you take the sat again cuz for some of the top schools, a 2300 might still be a bit low. and get some more awards that aren’t just from your school. if you want to go to a top ivy, you’re going to need something big =)

pineapple324–2300 SAT is not low at all.At this level,it all comes down to the essays and recommendations.
And i think the op is not seem very science(laboratory) based,so i don’t think he even need to try caltech or mit.

michiganfall - well, your sat score will depend on how well you do over all, but the thing is, for EAthis year, i know a lot of people with 2300+ and a lot of extracurriculars who got deferred from yale.
i think more importantly though, the he’s going to need some big awards. cuz most people have ap scholar and nms, especially since florida doesn’t have a super high cutoff. i know at my school last year, the only ones who got into harvard were intel science semifinalists or were nationally ranked in some sport.
but really, i think he just needs to make sure he does well this year, and collect some awards that’ll make him stand out. he should be on track :)

pineapple - thank you for the honest critique. The problem is that calc BC conflicted with AP Physics, so I figured it was better to have both than one. Chances are I’ll take calc 2 this summer and calc 3 in the fall to “catch up”. I don’t think I’d fit well at Caltech, but I’ll give MIT a look. Unfortunately, my school has a pretty bad track record for MIT, but it’s worth a shot, right? Awards are something I seriously lack in, and I’ll need to really work on that. I’ve been looking into internships and scholarships. Thank you for the advice. (:

porschedude - why thank you! It’s always nice to see SM/Catch 22 fans on here.

michgianfall - and indeed, I hope to have some good recommendations. I have a teacher and a guidance cousenlor that know me very well, and I’ll probably get an additional letter from the commissioner of the Little League in my city. Thank you!

In general, I really plan on emphasizing my committment to coaching and volunteering with Little League.

UF - high reach
Rollins College - in

You’re most likely going to get into Princeton. I don’t understand why you guys keep saying Harvard and Yale are both reaches, and then saying UPenn Wharton is an outright match. If anything I’d say that, given her circumstances, Yale would be a low reach with Penn at the same level, if not higher.

You seem like a really talented student and a great candidate for any of the schools that you mentioned. Congratulations, those are great SAT scores you can bet on NYU and Umich for sure. Wharton is really tough though, i have a friend who applied early with similar specs who was deffered and is waiting on regular admissions. Good Luck!

Soccer - thank you! Rollins is a small college in Florida. I’m banking on it as a safety.

Carin - you know what you’re talking about, and I appreciate it. I think that my problem with getting into Wharton is that I don’t show any extracurrics in business / economics. If I did apply, I think I’d be flat-out rejected.

Princeton (legacy) - in (legacy helps alot)
Harvard - reach…isn’t this a reach for everyone lol
Yale - maybe in?
Columbia - low reach/in
UPenn (Wharton) - i’d say low reach/in. you’re just a junior but displayed so much talent
Georgetown - low reach
