It's FINALLY Ready - The College Admissions Office Ratings

Yale came in at an EXACT tie at number 47 with UC - Santa Barbara. Unfortunatley I can’t go back and edit the post. Sorry!

Just an anecdotal note…

My D applied to only two of the schools on the list: Kenyon (25) and Oberlin (4.) Our experience was exactly the opposite. Kenyon’s stayed in touch with her. The office was quite personable and approachable.

We visited Oberlin twice; although we met with an admission’s counselor who gave an overview of the school, we had no other contact with adults. There was very little communication from their office. The interview was with a student, who talked to us about how wonderful the applicant BEFORE our daughter was and who mispelled her name and jumbled our address on a followup card.

Kenyon’s admissions office WON our daughter’s EDII application after Oberlin, her previous first choice, treated her like a forgettable number.

It is interesting how different our experience was from this survey.

I actually sent an email to the Wisconsin office of admissions this weekend about a potential change of the school I was admitted to (for scholarship purposes) and had a response by the time I got back from school on Monday. I wasn’t even sure if somone would respond, let alone so quickly- so I definitely agree with Madison’s high spot. It was nice to see!

I’m impressed with what a great job most admissions offices do in responding to students. I realize that that’s part of their jobs, but the numbers must be staggering at times for busy offices. I suspect that one’s attitude toward an admissions office might be biased by the outcome of one’s application there. It would probably be more reliable if your survey allowed for that. Without that information, I wouldn’t place much validity in this well-intentioned survey. Degree of selectivity (and the accompanying disappointment factor) may come into play. Still, it’s nice to acknowledge those admissions offices that provide great service to students.

honestly any school that accepts me has a great great office!
