It's my number 1..nervous about chances

I'm sure everyone gets annoyed with all of these "what are my chances!" questions, but I would love to get some input. GWU is my absolute number one, but I could not apply ED I or II because of financial situations. A little bit about myself:

I am 29/240 in my class with a 94.2 GPA at the end of junior year. My SATs are Writing:640 Reading:590 and Math:630. I hope to study International Affairs with a focus in International Development.

My senior classes include:
UCONN Math Modelling
UCONN Spanish V
Environmental Science
AP/UCONN English
Honors Anthropology
Honors Political Theory
Economic Development & Global Poverty
Sociology

I am secretary of my class, vice president of National Honor Society, student director of a community service organization of 400 students, I have hundreds of community service hours, and have received a Presidential Award for civic participation.

It's weird to type all of that because it sounds like I am bragging, but I'm hoping some of that will make up for my average SAT scores. What do you think are my chances? I have my heart set on DC, and on GWU, so any input is extremely appreciated. Thanks guys!

i would try to take the sat (or act) one more time before the rd deadline. 40 points below the 25th percentile RD is tough without an amazing class rank or hook.

Thanks! I took them again this morning, so hopefully I did better, at least on Reading. Does GW look heavily at SAT scores? That’s a question I never asked.

not heavily, but you want to be in the 1900-2100+ range. otherwise you stick out.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Does GW look at how ‘committed’ you are? I have visited the campus twice, gone to meet & greets in New England, and have had an interview…some schools carea bout that a lot, and other pay no attention. Just curious.

yeah i think they do, from what i’ve heard.
like whenever I call to inquire about my application ( when it was coming up as incomplete although i sent everything in. ) and about my financial aid stuff being sent in, they said that they log all the phone calls so they know that I’m making an effort.

yesterday I received my acceptance to GWU via e-mail. They will follow up with a mailing. However, what’s troubling to me is they said I must send an acceptance letter with the routine deposit and it must be post marked no later than this Monday. I was just notified on friday and they want the acceptance by Monday? I will call the adm. office but i’m totally confused why they would not allow more time for me to make my final decision?
Any clues about this?

thats really strange… how did you get your acceptance so fast?

naomi- did you apply ED or RD? when I went for my interview the interviewer told me if you apply really early even if RD they send out acceptances sooner. she made it seem like it was almost rolling admissions. I applied as RD before the ED deadline so I’m hoping she’s right and I’ll hear back soon.

It’s worth noting that naomi1 is a junior transfer student, so that might be a completely different application process than ED/EDII/RD.

If you had to give me a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to me getting accepted to GW, what would you say? I’m prepared for any answer, I’m just having a hard time judging myself haha

@Chels - If i had to pick today right now- i would say in. Good luck!
