My D got her acceptance today! The letter was mailed yesterday, for those who were wondering when the letters were sent

That's great!!!! My letter didn't come today... anxiously waiting for tomorrow!

If you don't mind- what state do you live in? Curious how she got hers so fast...

we live in Indiana- 30 minutes from ND. Hopefully you'll hear good news tomorrow. Best wishes!

That would explain it...

Thanks so much! I'm crossing my fingers!

YAY I got in too! I live in England tho, a bit longer than 30 minutes away! Ooooh am so excited! They sent me an email copy of my acceptance letter 5 minutes ago :) Congrats to your D ccgmom

Mark it, number 3 of the CC kiddos! My college counselor called the office and they gave me my judgement. Time to load up on Domer swag now.

AHH I live in New York, I hope I get mine tomorrow!!!

People who got in, what are your stats??

Mine were 1320 (660M, 660V), great ECs, good community service, but I live in England, got 6As at AS level, which is a whole lot better than 1320 SAT score. I'm guessing there was someone in admissions who understood the British school system!

nothing in the mail today, live in wisconsin

My D had a 1380- (670 V, 710 M), plus had taken SAT II's which were submitted. She also has a few unique hooks- half Turkish, lived in Turkey for 7 years and still spends every summer there. volunteers teaching English to underpriviliged children in Istanbul, is doing nanotech research in the biochem dept at ND throughout her senior year, and is a descendant of the Indian chief that first brought the Catholic priest to the area who started ND (the university is built in land that was his).

SAT- 800M, 680V (1480)
Rank- 3/146
GPA- 4.3
Class load- ONLY 4 AP's! 8 Honors. At a competitive Catholic High school.
7 time Captain of team
2x All-State, 2x All-League, 2x State Champion
Classical Guitar

Hook: Non-Catholic (?)

I'm on top of the world!
First thing I did: Went to the mall and got myself an ND hat!

what did the envelope look like, I want to know if I should cry tomorrow if I open the mailbox and nothing is oversized

that ? for ccgmom

Congratulations to all of you! We're here in Missouri, thus still waiting. I'm wondering, Project86ist, what your counselor did to find out. Did he/she just call the admissions office? Would they do that for my son's counselor, do you think? It sure would make for a much more relaxing--or anguishing--weekend... If my son gets in, he'd love to know now. If he got deferred or rejected, I guess now would be as good a time as any to go through the come-to-grips-with-it ritual.

BTW, not like the decision isn't already made already (and festering in a post office somewhere!), but just to humor me, here's a recap of my son's stats. 34 ACT; 3.9 non-weighted GPA Catholic college prep school; SLU college credit classes in math, science, english, social studies; took all honors available; class rank 11/126; varsity track, varsity cross country; sports editor of newspaper; video productions daily newscast staff; Missouri Boys State; six years as youth sports soccer referee (talk about some diplomacy training!) already awarded NROTC scholarship, Navy has slotted him in ND's unit--if he gets in--we did notify admissions of this; also a legacy, as I graduated 1984. Essay emphasized leadership...

Things driving his mother (that would be me!) nuts with anxiety are class rank, the fact that his is a good Catholic high school but not a super-froofy doo one, two B's second semester of junior year--with two incredibly tough graders who are nonetheless good teachers, one of which he insisted on taking again--TWICE--this year because the guy is an awesome teacher, even if the highest he ever gives is a B. Also, he didn't take Spanish this year because it didn't fit well in his schedule and...well, just try and tell a 17 year-old what to do!

What do y'all think?

Again, I realize this won't make a difference in a fate that has already been sealed, if not made known to us, but it might help soothe the nerves of a 40-something Domer alum who has been unfathomably unproductive these last few days!

Toshima- it's a white manila envelope

ddjones- First of all, you have ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO WORRY! Your son's stats are comprable to mine, and with legacy, I believe that there is a 0% chance of him getting rejected. But, to answer your question, my counselor first called on Wednesday, recieving the response, "Call tomorrow; it's like a zoo around here today." So, he did just that and I recieved my decision. Notre Dame called him last year with the decisions of the EA students and my adcom held an info session at my school, so I'm not sure if he knows the adcom a little more than the typical college counselor. If you have a college counselor that would be willing to give a call to ND, it wouldn't hurt to have him or her give the dome a call.

Oh, and to soothe your soul about class rank, the girl that is 8/146 at my school (has a 34 ACT like your son) was also accepted. With legacy, "acceptable rank" is stretched even further, giving your son room to breathe.

Get your son all the Notre Dame swag; he's going to be needing it in these coming days.

Project86ist--looks like I'll be buying some of that ND swag for Christmas!!!! :)

My son just got his acceptance packet today. Somehow, while taking it out of the mailbox, it accidentally ripped open :) and I happened to see that he got in. I went down to his high school, went to the guidance office, and had his counselor have him paged to come down to the office. While I hid in the background, the counselor handed Eric this flyer for a state university open house. I could tell Eric was irked he'd been pulled out of class for something lame like that, when he was waiting for something else. So I stepped out of the shadows with the letter and a bow on it, and said, "maybe you'd like this instead?"

The boy jumped five feet, nearly hitting his head on the ceiling, gave me a hug so hard I almost fell out of my chair and...let's just say I'd hate to be one of his teachers in the last two periods of the day! :)

So anyway, thanks to all of you for your support while I bit my fingernails to the nubs, especially you moms who have been down the road and been so infinitely supportive. I look forward to meeting some of you over the next four years...

GO IRISH! :)

Oh, by the way, for those interested in EA acceptance stats they are outlined in detail two posts above this.

YIPPEEEEEE! :)

I just got my packet in the mail! I had an exam this morning and have been watching the mailbox for 2 hours... I slammed the door shut when I saw my big white envelope from Notre Dame!!!

And of course the only person home to share my joy was my 3 y/o brother... called the rest of the family and we'll be celebrating tonight!

Yay!!!!

This may be the one time you are more hyper than the 3 y/o! Congrats, Rachel! So now we know of at least two future Domers from Missouri....

Enjoy the celebration! :)

My son was in school when I told him--they don't have finals till next week. I can't imagine being one of the teachers who has him in the final two periods of the day!
He might put both you AND your 3 y/o brother to shame! :)
