its "penn" not "upenn"

so stop saying upenn

Nonetheless, “UPenn” has value because it is less likely to be misinterpreted.

It’s “it’s” not “its”.

i like using upenn because as an applicant from PA, saying penn often gets a “oh penn state”… which requires an explanation they probably wont understand anyway…
saying upenn usually makes it seem like another school so a lot of people won’t ask because they don’t want to seem dumb. that being said, i still have to explain to most people or at least spell it out as the university of pennsylvania, in philly.

why can’t u use upenn?

I live 20 minutes from campus, yet people still ask me how long Penn State has had a campus in Philly, so I still have to call it UPenn to most people. It’s not worth starting a fight with someone though, especially since Penn State is a pretty good state school.

Haloshots we all know you don’t want it to be UPenn because you love pen15 so much.

One time, my friend and I were walking on campus and a woman comes up to us asking if she was at Penn State…

It’s either… There’s no official nickname… So deal with it

Can I just point out the fact that the website is www.upenn.edu?

^haha.
And I say Upenn because of the whole Penn state thing… It’s tragic that no one understands the difference.

Just wanted to note that on all printed materials and stuff, including sweatshirts, it always says Penn. The only thing that the university puts out that says Upenn is the website.

Haha, I still remember being on a campus tour/information session and being told to say “Penn, not UPenn.”

Try [Penn: University of Pennsylvania](http://www.penn.edu).

For what it’s worth, everyone on campus says Penn. No one says UPenn. No one really cares that others say UPenn.

The only way to stop having to say UPenn to distinguish it from Penn State is to actually call it Penn and make it clear it’s not Penn State.

Its (sic) UPenn, not Penn. Use UPenn so people know you are talking about the University of Pennsylvania. Otherwise people won’t know what school you are talking about.

Or, better yet, apply somewhere with a better name.

The Penn-Penn State confusion has been going on for decades. It seems that UPenn is less confusing to the unaware.

Now, given that we won the Ivy League this year, I think it’s a perfect time to got rid of Paterno.
