everyone on this site seems to be in the 99th percentile for the SAT's -_-.

Hell no, not me. I'm like bottom 5 percent with mine. 1035.

Haha I know! I got a 1970 on mine and these kids make me feel stupid!

yes people on here are usually the overachievers though

im sitting here with (around my area) a 31 and ppl around here are like "OMG YOU CAN WHEVER YOU WANT" and i get on here and they are like "..ehh maybe you can get in somewhere possibly"
lol its cool though ill apply and hope :P

If you got a 730 on math, and knew you were in the 97th percentile, then I'd say "it's too low" to you too.. hehe

I know what you're saying fromthesouth. I tell people from my small community that I'm applying to top schools and they say, "oh with a 32 ACT and 2nd in your class you can go wherever you want." They don't realize how truly competitive admissions are to top schools. In fact on this site, a 32 on the ACT, which is 99th percentile is considered a little low.

There's this misconception out there that everyone who scores so high on the SAT/ACT is a genius. That's certainly not the truth. The ACT is actually a very easy exam imo, and I scored in the top percentile, but I'm definitely not a genius. Sure, I do well in school, but I'm not a genius.

same i know..i could probably get 33/34 on the act if i studied for it but i havent cracked a book open yet lol i just wing it.

probably why ill just be going to Tulane and not Georgetown. altho tulane is in the top 50 best college list and is the best in my state it still isnt as good lol

fromthesouth: I know exactly how you feel about "you can get in anywhere you want!"

i just find it peculiar that 99% of the people on this site are in the 99th percentile for SAT's lol.

Well when you think about it, it really does make sense that most of the students on here are top notch. I mean, I doubt people from the 5th percentile are going to be posting chance threads on an internet forum. The only people who really care that much are those who are trying to get into elite schools. I'm not saying that everyone on here is telling the truth about his/her SAT scores, but the majority of CCers are indeed great students in general.

Would an average student really go onto an internet forum to talk about SAT scores? I doubt it. A lot of people end up here in the first place because they want to brag about test scores and or prep for them.

exactly

this is where top tier kids go usually

these 97th and 99th percentiles represent everybody, from crazy asians to high school dropouts. so if 100% of the population applied to HYP, their acceptance rate would be less than 1%. 99th percentile doesn't apply to Ivies, not really
