It's really sad when...

…a middle-aged woman cruises the Prep School Chances forum instead of doing her laundry.

Middle-aged women shouldn’t be doing laundry. I say @twinsmama is just wisely avoiding injury.

I have a recent injury (not acquired during laundry) but this thread reminds me that I need to do laundry dragging my feet :slight_smile:

@ChoatieMom , I knew you’d understand. :slight_smile:

I would love to cruise the boards here but try as I might, there ain’t enough going on! We need more peeps! Or more verbose ones! Or we need to be allowed to rehash the same stuff ad infinitum (JK, JK, calm down). I think I need a less niche-y obsession. Oh well, in a few months it will “all be over but the shouting”!

I think the moms need the E&R service and the kids should do their own laundry.

@6teenSearch , it has definitely been too quiet here. But as far as I know, rehashing is welcome and is most of what goes on here. I think the basic rules are do a little groundwork (or face the wrath of @sevendad), and don’t post on old, dead threads (or face the wrath of @skieurope).

Well, yes and no on the rehashing. I was just perusing a 2010 Gemma thread (excellent btw, must find others) and after that I am beginning to wonder if there truly are any original questions left!

It’s kind of an odd forum because for the most part people probably spend 6 months or so here. So you keep cycling newbies through.

And I still find the search functionality here to be unreliable.

In terms of boarding schools, I would say no. However, if you were to look over at the main parents forum and parent café, they do tend to come up with new topics.

it’s kinda the nature of the beast, particularly with the kids; once the decisions are in, they seem to all disappear.

Thanks, SkiEurope. Any suggestions on how to find more old Gemma threads? Thanks

Another middle aged laundry-avoider here. Just ventured into this area today. Both my kids go to school in my town so I have no real business to conduct here (not that that’s ever stopped me from posting in various fora). Anyway, @skieurope, sorry about posting to the almost 2-year old thread earlier today BUT I really am wondering what happened to the girl whose mom was going to make her leave her BS after sophomore year because her grades weren’t Ivy-worthy. Anyone have any intell gathered from PMing with the OP?

@6teenSearch,
Use the search button at the top of the page and click on “advanced search” then search by author for posts under Gemma’s name. I assume you’re looking for “GemmaV.” You can specify the prep school forum if you want to narrow your search.

If you’re reading a post and are curious about the author you can click on his or her name and then look at the poster’s original threads and/or replies to other people’s threads.

Sue22 beat me to it on clicking the username.

(I started laundry waiting on the dryer :slight_smile: )

Life’s hard. Get a helmet.

Empty nest much too soon. Sigh.

Laundry? What laundry?
With DD a new boarder and DS a college freshman, the mountainous piles of clothing are gone!

Wait, they’re coming home for Thanksgiving, so I may be digging my way out again…

Thanks very much, Sue22. For some reason the Advanced Search kept zeroing out certain fields in my search but I finally got it working! I’m a Gemma groupie now.

Any more takers in 6 word advice challenge?
