It's really stupid to ask this, but here I go.

I won an award after I graduated from middle school and before my freshman year in high school. Should I include it on the resume?

No. It would be lame.

Depends. If it's really prestigious, then why not? But, if it's just an award, it will make you look desperate to impress the admission officers.

if you don't have many awards, I'd go ahead and put it. My dad got a resume once that included middle school stuff and he found it hilarious, but this was from a college grad.

I agree with hairypotty. If it's a Reading award or something, nope. But if you built a website that was featured on CNN news and they sent you a certificate...sure!

Eh I don't see how it could hurt.

I would have thought that it would seem desperate. I don't know, people change drastically from junior high. I'd think admissions people would want to see more of what you do now, not something you did 5 years ago.

What about the scholarships you won in your senior year? Can you include it on college resume? Or is it still lame?

Just because it was done 4 years ago doesn't mean it's worthless now. Honestly any college that says "this award is from the summer before high school so this candidate must be desperate for awards, and these award-lacking students are not what we want" is not a college to which I want to go.

especially if it's a state award, i would include it

What is the award? We'll let you know whether to include or exclude.

"But, if it's just an award, it will make you look desperate to impress the admission officers."

I disagree..
An award cant hurt...

The summer before freshman year technically counts as high school, I'd go ahead and put it on. It really can't hurt.

yes, it's a state award.

I would put it on the app as an award won in freshman year (see post #13).
