It's that time. Early decision (ED) results?

I’m very excited for mid-December! I fell in love with Vassar, and I knew it was the place for me. I’m pretty confident that I’ll get in; I’m in the 98th percentile ACT with a 4.0 and lots of ECs and awards, plus I’m a southern male. God bless living in the South; everyone wants you. I wish you all luck! I just hope the college gods are in my favor…

@WaitingED - Where do you get Dec. 15 from? Vassar’s site says Mid December. That was the case the last two years and decisions came out on the 9th and 10th for those two years. Do you know it is the 15th, or is this a guess?

Going with this from CollegeBoard.org-
<a href=“BigFuture College Search”>BigFuture College Search;
Click on “See all Deadlines”.
I’ve this in other formats on other sites. To be quite honest, I’m not sure where else I saw it.
Maybe that’s the latest date, maybe not.

Usually, colleges say that they’ll notify BY December 15, so organisations like CB just write that as the notification date. Trust what the college says over what an outside organisation reports (IMO).

Typically, ED decisions are released December 8-15 - somewhere in that window. As it gets closer, the college will tell you specifically which day and at what time. You can also keep an eye out on social media for the usually common picture of the admissions staff bringing the envelopes to the Post Office - that can give you an estimate of when you’ll get the hard copy.

(I applied to college last year as well, and this is how it worked out for all of my schools minus one that was rolling admissions.)

(Sorry for double-posting, but -) has anyone done an interview yet? I requested one by the deadline but I haven’t been contacted yet and I know reports are due on December 1, so I’m assuming I’m not getting one… But they haven’t told me I’m not getting one yet (they say they will contact you if they can’t place you with an interviewer). I know it won’t hurt me, but I LOVE interviews so I was looking forward to this one… Even just a Skype interview would be nice…

@LAMuniv‌ i was contacted for an interview 1-2 weeks after the interview deadline passed & am having mine next sunday… if you’re far out of state, maybe they just didn’t have any alumni in your area? btw love your icon – catcher in the rye reference, i assume :)

@nervoustudent‌ I’m about four hours away from Vassar and I live in a very rural area, but I’m only and hour to an hour and a half away from Boston, so I thought there might be a chance… Oh well. Good luck with your interview!

And yes, Catcher in the Rye - I’m so happy to have found someone that loves the book; too many people tell me that they hated the book, which just indicates to me that it wasn’t taught right or that they read it wrong… I’m (co-)teaching it to my tenth graders this trimester, so I’m pretty excited :)

@LAMuniv‌ oh, that’s too bad – awesome that you enjoy interviews though. i always get so nervous! i will need good luck! :)

re catcher in the rye – my thoughts exactly! i get so frustrated with people who don’t like the book – there’s so much depth in it that they’re missing, i think. how cool that you’re teaching … you will make sure they appreciate it properly :)

best of luck with your app!

Anyone want to guess what day they announce decisions? I say Monday Dec. 8.

@stepay oh goodness, I hope. I am checking the portal obsessively at least five times a day now, haha. I just want to know when I’ll know…

from looking at last year’s thread… for ed 1 class of 2018, they closed the application checklist on the 5th and released decisions on the 12th, a week later. the checklist is still open, so i predict that the earliest decisions will come out is the 12th (next friday)… unless they close the checklist late tonight and release decisions on the 11th. i will be so mad if they wait till the 15th though… i can’t take 10 more days of waiting, honestly. anyone know if decisions are ever released on the weekend?

@nervousstudent I think that 90% of the time they’re released on weeknights, but I think BU released them on a weekend last March… Not sure though…

Double-posting, sorry

I read on my interview request that they usually tell people if they weren’t able to offer them an interview about a week before decisions come out. Reports were due on December 1 - I requested an interview and wasn’t contacted for one, so they should be emailing me about not getting an interview soon…

Read all of your comments and so anxious as well!

One thing that kind of worries me is that the online checklist does not show that they’ve received my Nov. scores (2nd time taking the test, and it’s 170 points higher than my Jan. score). I really hope Vassar received that…

Good luck to everyone!!! You rock.

Application portal’s still open. So I guess we can’t expect our decisions before the 12th?

One more week. It’s coming!

I called the admissions office and she said they don’t have a day yet… She just said mid-December. I think she was annoyed with me for calling… Oops :/

Oh my god I just want to know when I’m going to know…

/I need to know if I need to rush to write out 20 more essays for my ten other schools before January 1…

@LAMuniv‌ well… I’d say you should probably get started on those essays.

well at this point, it seems like we won’t be hearing until the 15th… anxious grumbling :(
