I look at the posters here on CC and I begin to ponder my own lifestyle and its worthiness of a college admissions board's stamp of approval. It seems that if a person is not loaded with ECs involving numerous international clubs and national competitions and stellar standardized test scores, the person is a first-generation student who works a job to pay bills and teaches Sunday school to non-English speaking children. Both situations, in my eyes, paint pictures worth way more than a thousand words.

My situation, however, feels so different. I thought I was a diligent worker until I came onto this site and discovered a whole new world of dedication. Now I cannot help but believe that I am the ultimate average jane. Life has never been real smooth financially, but it hasn't been that hard either. The top spot of my class was always and obviously mine, and it is actually believed that I also have the highest SAT score in the school system, WHICH IS ONLY A 2040. My EC's are alright: NHS president, two-time class president, four-sport player, JSA 2010 attendee... but of course, nothing nationally acclaimed. I have had a job, but not since I was twelve, when I worked for nearly 2 years as a Polynesian dancer at a hotel. Oh and volunteer hours? Mostly acquired from various NHS projects. The hospital won't accept teenage volunteers because they are extremely understaffed, and Red Cross + the public library are both too far for my budget (gas is almost $4/gallon here. I swear, the cost of living on Saipan is horrible).

Sigh, the pains of living on a forty-five square mile island. It's an absolute paradise here, but it's not what you'd call a breeding ground for Ivy Leaguers.

Anyway, excuse me for this pitiful rant of mine but I just had to vent. I wish CC had some button that allowed us to delete our posts. Or do they have one? Please let me know. I'd like to delete this one soon.
