ITT: Retaking the SATs for Transfer Purposes

Hey everyone, to set the background for this story, I was your typical high school ****ant, did exceedingly well compared to the rest of my classmates at the academy I attended but for some naive reason felt it becoming to ignore SATs and college applications altogether. I took them but only at the threat of parents and scored a 1400...This is how I applied to college: "Son, you are going to apply to three colleges before you can use the car to go see your friends." So I just did, in 2 hours I applied to UF, UM and Tulane. I'm not convinced I've been hard enough on myself for that yet...Regardless, I've since matriculated with UF (largely for financial reasons...) and have been really displeased with it overall and am looking to transfer. What I need to know is whether it is worth it to study for the SATs seriously so that I might transfer to a better school as a junior-Georgetown, Rice, U Penn, Columbia, etc. So far only Berkeley has outright discouraged this while the other schools have not given comment on whether they approve of taking the SAT as a college sophomore, what say ye of such sapient standing? Does anyone have experience with something similar?

Look at schools policies. Most top schools require SAT and even subject SATs for transfer students. See where your scores fall on their stats of admission and go from there. ;)

Hey YAHA, yeah, I know they require them, what is unclear is whether they accept SATs taken after attending college for a year. Its possible they might view it as a type of "cheating…I seriously hope Berkeley is singular in their opinion on the matter.

No. There is no conditional clauses - SAT is SAT anytime. I have had 3 years of college, currently planning to transfer and will be taking my SATs this fall.

P.S. You would probably agree that there is nothing you do in college that helps you improve scores on SAT  . . . . even if there was, still no difference - the test is the test anytime.

Wait, did you say that UC Berkley doesnt want to take your SAT scores just because you took them while in college ??? Sounds like a complete nonsense to me!!! What if a person has been in college, never taken SAT before in their life and now want to transfer ???

O yes, they have, and I’ve also been told that if someone applies to a school like UF as a junior or senior transfer, the SAT becomes irrelevant. Thanks for the confirmation, YAHA, peace.
