ITT you list all the books you tried to read but lacked the attention span for

The Metamorphosis was extraordinarily painful.
Clockwork Orange
War and Peace- I gave up for half a year then I finished it

A Clockwork Orange. I started it last month and haven't gotten past page 2. Oh, and to tritiumknight- I raced through the Fountainhead! (In a good way) I would probably reread it a million times. Willingly.

rockandrolltime: It just Rand's writing...it's very polarized...either you hate it or love it. It's probably the same reason so many people don't like Catch 22.

Let Us Now Praise Famous Men.

I have read...and reread.... aaannnnd reread the first few sections of that book a bajillion times. It's so good... and then I put it down. I don't understand why I can't finish it. It's awfully dense, but that usually doesn't bother me. Who knows...

tritiumknight: It's funny, I don't like Catch 22 at all.

Crime and Punishment, but I think I was distracted. I never not finish books.

I dislike Austen too, and I'm a GIRL.

I like: Catch-22, Brave New World, Ayn Rand, The Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, HARRY POTTER (re-re-re-re-re-re.... reading HP5 now)

I second War and Peace.. the war part was the boring part... ironically

The Bible is all I can think of. But I plan on finishing it eventually.

I could see why people say A Clockwork Orange since it's impossible to understand in the beginning. Difficult language. If you stick to it, though, it's fantastic.

Tess of the d'Urbervilles
I had to stop it was so painful.

Also Catcher in the Rye started off so slow I had to force myself to get into it.

War and Peace. I got about halfway through and then just stopped.

Beowulf and The Illiad. I couldn't even get through the first pages of either. Blech. Maybe I'm just not an epic poetry kind of person.

Mine are pretty much the same:

Their Eyes Were Watching God (the book makes no sense to me and I can't understand what they are saying..It's not books with dialect bc I LOVE Uncle Tom's Cabin)

Invisible Man (It's so slow but I am trying again this summer!!)

Ditto for all of the Bronte sisters and Jane Austin books.. (the plots are either nonexistent or pointless)

Anna Karenina
The Poisonwood Bible

=P 2 books I started and never finished. I'm sure there are more, I just can't think of them right now.

Great Expectations

I agree with The Bible. I was reading only The New Testament, but I stopped after two pages.

The Poisonwood Bible is different from the actual Bible if that's what you were referring to...

i couldnt fdinish uncle toms cabin to save my life or war and peace

I'm really weird. I got through Jane Eyre in no time and loved it, but could not for the life of me get through To Kill A Mockingbird. It's even weirder because I'm a guy....

wow i loved to kill a mockingbird the only people i know who couldnt finisgh it were girls to....

Pride and Prejudice
Lord of the Flies
Oliver Twist
A Tale of Two Cities
Scarlet Letter
Don Quixote
Candide (i read half of it :))
