IU Admissions notification

Does IU only send admission decisions on the 1/15 date for early action candidates? Their website says “no later than 1/15”. Does that mean that if you submit early, they will notify earlier?

Hello! I have been wondering the same thing. I got an email saying that they would start releasing early october. Have you received anything from them saying otherwise?

No we have not received anything like that. We did get an email that our admission status had changed in the portal. We checked it and it really didn’t give us an admissions result. So… still confused.

I got the same email that they would start releasing decisions early October.

When did you all receive the information about setting up a portal? DS applied to IU over the weekend and hasn’t received a notice to set an account up yet.

It took almost a week for my DD to get the email to set up an account.

Don’t know if its changed at all but 3 years ago when my D applied IU was the last of the schools we heard from. I don’t recall the exact date but it was around mid October that she heard from her app that she submitted in August. I think last year was similar timing.

When she found out she got the e-mail around 7pm in the evening and a few days after that she got her Red envelope. I seem to recall some of her friends found out a day or two before and some earlier in the day. I don’t remember them all coming out at once.

Once accepted, if you are invited to do the SSA then you’ll need to jump on that quickly as the deadline comes up quickly. She’s now a Junior and absolutely loves IU.

So ds got an email today, but it was mentioning items he still needed to send to complete the application, not anything about setting up an account. Also all the things they said he needed to send have been sent. I think we probably need to call the admissions office just to be safe.

@dcolosi Thanks for the info. What is the SSA?

@BballDanceMom Yes, we had that when we first submitted too. I knew everything had been sent. It just took them some time to input the data. We called just to be safe.

The SSA is the supplemental scholarship app. If you are invited to apply for additional scholarships I believe it will be noted in your Red Envelope material. There was a link within her profile after she was accepted and it had a list of different scholarships she was eligible to apply. She did get a departmental award. Her application was due by Dec 1. and if I remember they extended it to the end of the month due to some technical issues.

I just remember her having about 4 invites for supplemental scholarships and it took us a while to fill out. Some additional short essay’s and other questions that she needed to answer. If you get those invites, do not wait to complete as they will take some time to work on.

Slight correction, SSA stands for the Selective Scholarship App not Supplemental. If you do a search on the IU site you can find out more info.

My DS is now a senior at IU. In my FB memories his red envelope showed up last Wednesday 10/2, so that was the date he received his acceptance. He is in Kelley and us had an amazing experience at IU. Even started off his senior year with a job offer! Good luck to all of you!

IU has rolling admissions. Most applicants get results in under a month.

FYI - My daughter’s app status updated this afternoon with her acceptance. She applied on 9/13 and app was complete within a few days.

@Gills98 Thanks for the heads up! We just checked and my kid is in too. Looks like this is the start of their rolling week.
