Congrats!!

D22 received her acceptance last week, and was very excited. She applied to major in CS in Luddy. We’re OOS, and her stats are 3.5w/4.5uw, ACT 31, SAT 1410.

10/12 - Applied
11/10 - Portal showed acceptance to “pre-informatics” I think (it was pre-something)
11/11 - Acceptance email received
11/14 - SSA app invitation received
11/18 - Big Red Envelope in the mail received
11/19 - Portal changed to “Informatics Undergrad” for the program, Computer Science BS for the plan

Does this mean she’s received a direct admission to Luddy? She’ll be thrilled if that’s what the program change means!

Don’t know about Luddy specifically but for my DS, it was pre-business on the portal for a while, until DA to Kelley went through, and it was changed to Business Undergrad. May I ask if she has heard anything about Hutton Honor College? DS got SSA invitation for Kelley and Hudson and Holland. There is no mention of Hutton Honor College.

Nothing on Hutton — is that automatically considered? She didn’t apply to any honors colleges/programs separately.

Thanks. Yes, it’s automatically considered. I read from previous posts that sometimes it’s listed in SSA.

My son’s dates are somewhat similar to those above.

10/17 - Applied
11/9 - Accepted in portal
11/14 - SSA Invitation received
11/17 - Red envelope in mail

We haven’t had a chance to complete the process yet, but his SSA invite indicated he would be considered for scholarships in five areas:
College of Arts & Sciences,
College of Arts & Sciences/Hudson & Holland Partnership Award,
College of Arts & Sciences/STARS/IFLE,
Hudson & Holland Honors Program, and
Hutton Honors College

We’re OOS applying to Kelley with DA. Maybe the following timeline could answer some of the questions one might have.

9/7 - Applied
10/5 - Accepted on the portal
10/7 - Email notification for the acceptance
10/11 - SSA invitation via email
11/11 - Kelley DA acceptance via email
11/17 - Portal updated from pre-business to business undergrad

What are my chances of getting through with the petition ( be completely honest)

SAT Raw: 730 Reading/Writing 720 Math
Sat Superscore: 780 Math 730 Reading/Writing
GPA(4.0)-3.23
GPA(6.0;Took 13 AP Classes)-4.33
Context: Freshman Year I had a 3.7/6.0 so I had steady grade improvement
-Tennis
-DECA,BPA

  • 100+ hours of volunteering

If the 4.33 is on your transcript, wouldn’t you be a direct admit? If no, a 1510 superscore is awesome.

Has anyone got an EA decision from IU over the weekend?

Submitted 10/20. Completed 11/4. Accepted 11/19.

Good luck everyone!

Has kelly made decisions about any petitions yet? Waiting to hear about petition to Kelly. Filed petition October 1, accepted to IU Bloomington on Oct 10. Still waiting on decision re: petition. 3.87 GPA, 29 ACT, OOS.

What are the standards for direct admission vs petition?

Meet GPA and test score criteria

  • Earned the required test score:
    • a composite ACT score of 30, or
    • an SAT score of 1370 (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math)
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale in high school. We will use the highest GPA that is sent to IU Admissions from your official high school transcript. In most cases this is the weighted GPA.

If your record does not meet the criteria above or you wish to apply under test-optional guidelines, you will need to petition through our website to be considered for Kelley direct admission.

Can anyone clarify the Kelley DA criteria about the GPA please?

  • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale in high school. We will use the highest GPA that is sent to IU Admissions from your official high school transcript. In most cases this is the weighted GPA.
My S’s unweighted GPA is below a 3.8. Weighted is above a 3.8. But only unweighted is on the 4.0 scale of course. Both unweighted and weighted are on his transcript. Does he need to petition? (his SAT meets criteria). We both have reached out to his AO, but neither of us received a reply. Thank you!

At the info session we attended on campus, they said that if there was any doubt, just send in the petition. They said it only takes 10-15 minutes to complete so better safe than sorry. I think there is a short essay so it seems like it would take longer than that (S hasn’t done his yet) but that was what the AO stated.
