IU Housing

Since I have been accepted to both the Kelley school of business and the honors college, should I apply for KLLC or should I apy for honors housing? My parents want me to apply for honors housing but I don’t know if that is the best choice. If I want to make sure I get the best business education, would KLLC b he better choice? Also, the high neighborhood should I choocse? I am thinking Northwest but I don’t know if that is the best option…

Also, if i live in the honors housing, will I be able to access all of the things that are available in the KLLC?

As the mom of a student who lived in Kelley LLC last year, also a direct admin and Hutton Honors student, I highly recommend the KLLC! However, I cannot comment on the advantages of living in honors housing, so my comments are one-sided. When you live in the KLLC you are required to take one 1-credit-hour class each semester, and those classes are only offered to KLLC students. The first semester class helps you with things like building a resume and LinkedIn profile, and second semester you choose from a list of special interest classes. My daughter chose Independent European Travel! There are also seminars that are only for KLLC students. You are required to attend a minimum number of these seminars. And there are also leadership opportunities through the KLLC. On move-in day, recruiters from several companies were on site to meet and greet KLLC students! So the networking begins on DAY ONE, even before classes begin. I think the opportunities given to Kelley students through the KLLC are outstanding.

The main “disadvantage” of the KLLC is that McNutt does tend to live up to its reputation as a party dorm. It is loud. You may occasionally have to step over vomit. It’s college. My guess is that the honors housing may be a bit more tame.

So, I am assuming that I cannot receive any of these opportunities and advantages if I were to go to Honors Housing… Anyway, since I want to room in Honors Northwest, there is an enhanced cost to living there. Does anyone know what the difference is between the standard cost and the enhanced cost?

You don’t get access to anything in the Kelley LLC unless you live there. I think the cost difference is something like $1000/year but I would look it up or call/email admissions.

Don’t underestimate the nightmare that is McNutt for kids who care about studying (like me).

I have a friend who lives on a so-called honors floor in McNutt and it’s no better than the KLLC floors where my Kelley friends live. I am a Kelley Direct Admit who didn’t get into the KLLC and feel like I won the lottery since I would not have been happy there dealing with all the fools who just want to party themselves into a coma.

Check out Ashton Residence Scholars… Half off, single rooms, cool people and Upperclassmen from all over the school. I have made great contacts there with older kids that I would never have met at the all-freshman KLLC. Ashton is also in a much better location.

YMMV of course.

I thought the Northwest Honors Housing was located in Briscoe since NHH is enhanced…
