IU Jacobs School of Music - Audition Results - How did you hear?

For those of you who have heard from the Jacobs School of Music already this spring, how did you hear about your audition results? Was it by email, phone call, small letter with good news, big letter with good news, online?

If you have a OneStart account, did your application status change to show Jacobs in either the Program or Academic Plan fields?

If you were turned down, how did you hear that? And how soon did you hear?

My son auditioned in January, and we are still waiting. His first call after school everyday is checking to see if the mail has arrived yet. We have resisted the urge to email or call the school because we know how busy they are trying to get everyone notified.

Thank you for any information you are able to share.

My daughter heard of her acceptance by letter about three weeks ago, approximately three weeks after her audition. She auditioned for voice performance. I urge you to call IU right away. I have always found the front office to be extremely responsive and friendly. There is a young person there named Matt who has always been very helpful.

Dittos. By letter a few weeks after the audition.

My son auditioned in February ( percussion)and was told then that he would hear in mid March. Every department was different in terms of waiting till all auditions were complete or more of a rolling approach. We had not heard as of the 24th so I wrote a brief email asking when they thought they would be notifying us. Within 3 hours I had a very nice email sayining that a letter had been sent on the 16th stating that my son had been accepted. They actually pasted the body of the letter into the email. The letter said we would. be notified of any music scholarships by April 1. I called them to say thanks and tell them the letter must have gotten lost. They said that it takes quite awhile to get thru the IU mail system. It arrived today in a large envelope with a glossy acceptence brochure, the letter, and a acceptence/decline form to return. I would drop them an email or call for sure. They are very helpful and understanding. The whole audition process and experience has been above and all the other schools. The university has sent ared and white scarf with a catchy card and some amazing personalized post cards. First class all the way. Good luck.

Son auditioned for Recording Arts in January. Because it's a very small program, they wait until all aud. weekends are complete before making any decisions. I emailed the office to inquire on Monday. My answer was that the letters would go out "in a few days."

Son auditioned in January, admissions stated that if they were sure that they would accept a student you would hear in three weeks, which luckily he did. I think that as they are such a large school they can do that where some colleges wait till all auditions are complete before making any decisions. For the majority they said admissions would wait till all the auditions were complete and then rank everyone who auditioned and decide who would be sent an acceptance letter based upon needs that year. Admissions said music scholarships are decided after the acceptances for all instruments were done and based upon individual audition performance and need for the instrument. Waiting till April 1st for that.
