Hey, guys. I was wondering if anybody on here could give me any useful information on the Jacobs School of Music. I was wondering about the difficulty of getting in. I realize the acceptance rate is roughly 25%, but can you give any detail to this? What's the average player who auditions like? What's the skill level of an accepted student who auditioned?

If you have any sheet music that has been used for auditions before, that would be very helpful to see and get an idea of where I need to be as far as performance level. Sheet music would be the best help, but any tips or advice at all would be great.

Despite it’s highly ranked School of Music, not many visitors to the IU forum are looking at a music major. You may not get an answer here for that reason. I would recommend also posting your question on the Music Major forum. It seems that there are people there that have been through this. Just remember in making your decision for your audition music, IU’s program is not only one of the top programs nationally, but it is internationally known as one of the top programs. Make your decisions accordingly.

Thank you. I’ve noticed that the IU forum seems not too active anyway and maybe I should have just taken it straight to the music majors section. Thank you so much for the links. I’ve seen the audition requirements one (specifically music education) and wanted to know what specific contrasting movements some sax players choose to audition with. And your link on how many saxes audition each year in relation to how many are accepted was very useful. Thanks. I’ll send my same questions over to the music majors. Thanks a lot.
