Our sons is trying to decide between these two programs. He would probably like to end up working in CA or Chicago. Thank you.
I don’t know anything about the other school, but IU definitely places a lot of students into Chicago. Do you have any specific questions about IU? Asking specific questions is usually better because most people on here are not going to know anything about Santa Clara.
Although both are fine schools, they are quite different. IU is huge compared to SCU and IU will have the more traditional college feel to it. SCU is a Jesuit school, but being in California, the religious aspect is not hard core unless the student chooses.
You did not state what major your son is interested in. If it is in engineering, SCU will look stronger in Silicon Valley, but if it is in business, IU will look strong across the nation compared to SCU. Personally speaking, I couldn’t see paying the prices for either school (IU is out of state for me), if the student isn’t interested in either engineering (SCU) or business (IU).
If you son has been accepted to both, I recommend visiting both. There is a good chance after the visits, your son will make his choice. Like I said, they are very different.
OK. I’m an idiot. I see clearly in the title now that your son is a business major.
Again, I think how he feels about both campuses is important. However, from a purely practical standpoint, I think Kelley is far more recognized than Leavey outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. Personally, I wouldn’t pay for Leavey, but am currently paying for a child to attend Kelley OOS and am completely happy.
