We are out of state based in Ohio. Should we spend 2.5 X in Kelley than U Cincinnati? In other words is it worth spending more on IU Kelly and what is the ROI?
I really like Kelley, think it’s a great school, and am glad I decided to go. But Cincinnati is also a solid school. If money was the only consideration, I’d go to Cincinnati. Kelley is better in terms of rankings, but I don’t think rankings are actually as important as they seem when choosing a school. Cincinnati might actually be better for job placement if you want to work in Cincinnati or somewhere else in Ohio.
Cinci has the advantage of the 5 year co-op program which gives an individual a great opportunity to spend some quality time at a variety of companies and locations around the nation and those companies really getting to know you. ROI depends on what the student puts into it at any university and also the major they choose. There are online sites you can compare the average starting salary from various Business schools broken down by major. Consider joining the Paying for College 101 FB page and you will get good feedback from a diverse group and many professionals. Rankings don’t get you the internship or the job offers. The work that you do while at the university and how you engage is what makes the difference. OOS COA of IU is at about $50,000 before scholarship or aid.
