IU Kelley School of Business vs. PSU Smeal School of Business

Deciding between these undergraduate business programs as a rising freshman majoring in finance.

Both are relatively the same price, however IU is a ten hour drive (or plane ticket) versus a 4 hour drive to PSU.
IU is significantly higher in undergrad business program and in “party school” rankings.

Looking for advice or any stories of attending either of the two schools or programs.

Are you a direct admit at Kelley? Do you have credit that might allow you bypass finite math? Are you in Hutton too?
At PSU, are you pre admit to Smeal or DUS? Have you applied to Schreyer ? To Sapphire?

You have till may first, so you should plan an overnight at both.

I am a direct admit to Kelley, doubt I have the credit to bypass finite. Am not in Hutton, didn’t apply for it.
I am a pre admit for Smeal, didn’t apply to the honors college.

Apply to Sapphire (business/leadership honors, only open to Smeal pre admits).
Look into the conditions for skipping Finite since it’s a killer.
Check to see whether you can still apply to Hutton.

I don’t plan on applying to an honors program at either of the two schools.

Why?
It could make a big difference.

DS was accepted to both- (we are in-state for PSU), now a sophomore at IU. Loves it and has had a great experience there. The travel part can be expensive at times, but the opportunities he has at IU far out weigh the negatives. He has had so many opportunities since starting there (including a great internship lined up for this summer!) and he has said many times that he knows he made the right choice. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.
