I was browsing the admissions requirements for various med schools and noticed that IU required Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics.

Applying to the IU School of Medicine

Would they mean that one semester is required of each? Or do they require a full year of each?

I know that those courses are recommended, but does anyone know any other schools that REQUIRE them? I couldn't find any other med schools that required them.

Looks like 1 semester each especially since biochem is typically a one semester class and I doubt you need a full year’s worth of the other two.

It may be that these are relatively new requirements, since the MCAT is changing to incorporate the social sciences (it changes during my test cycle). Also, I would think that they only require one class each of those.

Ok, I found out that it only requires one semester of Psych and Soc each ([Premedical Coursework - Health Professions and Prelaw Center - Indiana University - University Division](http://www.hpplc.indiana.edu/medicine/med-cw.shtml)).

I also figured out that a few other schools (U Nevada, U North Dakota, etc.) also require psychology and sociology courses (http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/sites/dsa/files/handbooks/Medical%20School%20Requirements%20FINAL.pdf).

I couldn’t find any information about Statistics for IU, but I’d assume that it’s one semester.
