IU = My First Choice. Chances??

I never bothered posting a chances thread for IU because it’s always kind of been my safety (as well as my first choice), and I don’t want to look cocky. I really don’t. But I’ve just been “Assuming” that I’ll get into IU for a long time and I realized that I might be getting overly optimistic, especially after my senior friend with a 3.7 GPA and 29 ACT got rejected.

Could you give me like a % Chance?

…Thanks guys.

I’m about 99% sure you’ll get in.

same here, u should be admitted for sure, im interested to know how your friend didn’t get admitted, what major was he applying for and did he take APs or honors?

My friend had all AP’s with the exception of Math, in which she was half a year behind most people.
She was in the top 7% of her class.

We don’t know why she got rejected. But that’s why I was a little nervous, because our numbers are somewhat similar.

I found it comical tha she got rejected from IU but accepted to UCSB and WUSTL.

But thanks ElizaB, that was a relief to see.

Sometimes students get rejected when schools think they are “super safeties” for them and the student has no intention of attending. This seems to be the case with your friend.

To avoid this in your case, be real professional in your application, and show that you are serious about wanting to attend by not applying to 12+ other colleges–all with higher USNWR rankings than IU-B.

Also, be aware that IU-B’s music department (and you appear to be a music major) is extremely highly ranked, and quite often they will ask for tryouts prior to acceptance–so be prepared for this.

Good luck.

Yah, I’d say 95% certain you’ll get in. It really depends I think on the other people applying from out of state.

You have good numbers and that’s what they are looking for. Also, you say you have a 229 PSAT score? Well, that means you should be a national merit scholar, and IU seems to really like them. I’m a national merit scholar, and because of it IU gave me first choice housing, extra money, and it opened a ton of doors for me for other scholarships. I had no idea how valuable having that award is!

And I’m going to warn you, if you are a national merit scholar, tons of other schools offer you amazing offers too. Keep your eyes open, although imo none of them were as good as IU.

It should be pretty much 100% I was OOS with worse stats then that and I got accepted plus 9k a year. Your score goes way over what you need for that. Why would they be willing to hand out money if they wouldnt accept you?

100% sure you will get in. Apart from that, you’ll get really good scholarship opportunities. If your in state, you should go to IU if you’re looking to save money.

Whats your major?

you will definately get in. i live in indiana and many of my friends who aren’t as involved and intelligent as you, have gotten in. you should be fine! maybe even a scholarship?

Not only will you get IN, you will get into Hutton Honors College too!

You can start buying some Hoosier gear now! ;)
