I was recently accepted to IU Bloomington, and am really leaning heavily towards going there, because of their philosophy program. However, I'd like to get an idea of the overall quality of the program, and how big/small impersonal/insular it is. I would think it'd be on the insular side, because it's not like students are banging down the doors to major in Philosophy as it is. What are the perceptions of the Philosophy program on campus (like, is it a "slacker major")? Sites like the Philosophical Gourmet are only so helpful when it comes to really getting at what a program is like, and besides, it only covers Master's and PhD programs. Anything anyone knows at all would be great.

Also, which dorms are good for studious transfer students and close to where my classes would be (Sycamore Hall)? Just from reading the housing guide Ashton, Willkie, and Foster seem good, but I don't know anything about their distance.
